Drew:
[00:00:00 - 00:00:04] What's really interesting about Spider-Man in Secret Wars is that he gets the symbiote
[00:00:06 - 00:00:12] in space and then goes back to Earth with the Fantastic Four with the black suit.
[00:00:13 - 00:00:17] That would be tough. So Spider-Man 5 with Tom Holland could be could be the black suit.

Grant:
[00:00:17 - 00:00:35] So Drew, about a year ago, if you had told me that a movie containing Spider-Man, Hulk, Punisher,
[00:00:36 - 00:00:44] and a bunch of Mr. Characters too. No idea who they are. And then also that's supposed to type
[00:00:44 - 00:00:50] the loose ends of No Way Home. Yep. All in one movie. You'd be concerned. I would be like,
[00:00:50 - 00:00:55] you know, this is kind of a concern, a red flag here. And as a Spider-Man fanatic,
[00:00:55 - 00:00:59] I wouldn't even hate that concern from you. I even went on the podcast and said,
[00:00:59 - 00:01:01] I'm concerned about this movie for all of these reasons. Yep.
[00:01:02 - 00:01:05] Welcome back to Stole My Line, a fireside film podcast. I'm Grant. And I'm Drew.
[00:01:05 - 00:01:10] We're talking about Spider-Man brand new day and it's safe to say that all of our concerns
[00:01:10 - 00:01:13] have kind of been settled down and we're good. Yeah. This is a good movie.

Drew:
[00:01:13 - 00:01:17] Absolutely great. By the way, there will be spoilers in this episode. Yes.
[00:01:17 - 00:01:21] Pretty off the bat. We have a full spoiler, no spoiler review that you should check out.
[00:01:21 - 00:01:25] If you haven't seen the movie, but we're going to spoil this one pretty straight away.

Grant:
[00:01:25 - 00:01:28] Yes. And there's one big spoiler that we're going to lead off with.
[00:01:28 - 00:01:30] Right. Okay. Let's go for it.
[00:01:30 - 00:01:33] So click off this video. Well, subscribe, click off this video.
[00:01:34 - 00:01:36] Watch brand new day if you haven't yet. Yep.
[00:01:36 - 00:01:37] Then come back. Yep.
[00:01:37 - 00:01:38] If you don't want spoilers.
[00:01:38 - 00:01:41] Sadie Sink is... Jean Grey.
[00:01:41 - 00:01:42] Can I tell you, can I be honest right now?
[00:01:42 - 00:01:43] Please be honest.
[00:01:43 - 00:01:46] So I did maybe one of the dumbest things I've ever done in my life this morning.
[00:01:46 - 00:01:47] Okay.
[00:01:47 - 00:01:50] I went in my closet and picked out my clothes to wear on this bucket.
[00:01:50 - 00:01:50] Right.
[00:01:50 - 00:01:53] And I picked out jeans and a gray shirt.

Drew:
[00:01:53 - 00:01:54] Did you do this intentionally?

Grant:
[00:01:54 - 00:01:59] 100%. So if you need to know if I'm a nerd or not, there you go.
[00:01:59 - 00:01:59] yeah.
[00:01:59 - 00:02:00] Jean Grey.
[00:02:00 - 00:02:02] Jean Grey. She's in the MCU.
[00:02:02 - 00:02:02] Everybody knew it.
[00:02:03 - 00:02:03] Yeah.

Drew:
[00:02:03 - 00:02:06] This was the worst kept secret behind Andrew Garfield being Spider-Man.

Grant:
[00:02:07 - 00:02:08] That's the point.
[00:02:08 - 00:02:09] Yeah. I mean, it's fine.
[00:02:09 - 00:02:10] It's a marketing thing.
[00:02:10 - 00:02:10] Yeah.
[00:02:10 - 00:02:15] 100%. What do you think of Jean Grey in this movie as the villain?
[00:02:15 - 00:02:17] Yeah. Definitely antagonist.
[00:02:17 - 00:02:20] She is not the antagonist. We'll get to that.

Drew:
[00:02:20 - 00:02:23] Right. I thought it was, I thought it was very well done.
[00:02:23 - 00:02:28] I think Sadie Sink is one of the better young actresses working.
[00:02:28 - 00:02:29] Would completely agree.
[00:02:29 - 00:02:34] So I think she has the range to definitely carry the X-Men on her shoulders.
[00:02:34 - 00:02:34] Yeah.
[00:02:34 - 00:02:36] And I thought her performance here was great.
[00:02:36 - 00:02:42] And I thought this was another thing that could potentially feel shoehorn and it didn't.

Grant:
[00:02:42 - 00:02:47] Yeah. I think one of the criticisms and some of the more scathing reviews that I've read on the
[00:02:47 - 00:02:52] internet is like, this movie is a little too obsessed with setting up the future of the MCU.
[00:02:53 - 00:02:54] Which is, yeah.
[00:02:54 - 00:02:56] That is something this movie does.
[00:02:56 - 00:03:01] But I don't think that it like worsens the movie that these characters like Jean Grey,
[00:03:01 - 00:03:04] like Punisher, like Hulk are all in this movie.

Drew:
[00:03:04 - 00:03:08] I also don't think it sacrifices Spider-Man as the main character.

Grant:
[00:03:08 - 00:03:11] Yeah. Like this occurs in New York and Spider-Man is the hero saving,
[00:03:12 - 00:03:15] you know, the people of New York from Jean Grey.
[00:03:15 - 00:03:16] And like that's the story.
[00:03:16 - 00:03:19] And so I think it works within the context of the movie.
[00:03:19 - 00:03:22] And yes, does it help set up the future of the MCU?
[00:03:22 - 00:03:26] For sure. But like, I don't think they wrote this script and they're like,
[00:03:26 - 00:03:28] all right, let's set up the X-Men.
[00:03:28 - 00:03:28] Right.
[00:03:28 - 00:03:30] I mean, well, maybe they did do that.
[00:03:30 - 00:03:32] But at least it was a good story that does that.
[00:03:33 - 00:03:33] So.

Drew:
[00:03:33 - 00:03:37] I think Jean Grey compliments this story very well.
[00:03:38 - 00:03:42] And I think having Peter be so stubborn in the beginning and him being
[00:03:44 - 00:03:48] so against revealing his identity, A, but also being with people.
[00:03:48 - 00:03:49] And if that's the theme you're trying to tackle,
[00:03:50 - 00:03:53] having an antagonist who kind of is the inverse and a mirror to that
[00:03:53 - 00:03:57] in the sense of like, Jean Grey can literally get in your mind
[00:03:57 - 00:03:59] and figures out who Peter is pretty instantly.
[00:03:59 - 00:04:01] I think that was a great choice.

Grant:
[00:04:01 - 00:04:04] Yeah, I think they did her powers really, really great.
[00:04:04 - 00:04:05] I thought visually it was sick.
[00:04:05 - 00:04:07] Yeah, I like the, it's kind of the Oppenheimer thing.
[00:04:07 - 00:04:08] Yeah, I literally was thinking that.
[00:04:08 - 00:04:10] Okay, let's go. I'm glad that you caught that too.
[00:04:10 - 00:04:11] Yes.
[00:04:11 - 00:04:13] But like the little shifting of the background,
[00:04:13 - 00:04:14] but that was cool. Like it's a nice.
[00:04:14 - 00:04:15] Great.
[00:04:15 - 00:04:18] It probably wasn't done practically, but it looks really good.
[00:04:19 - 00:04:20] And so like that was cool.
[00:04:20 - 00:04:23] The way they conveyed all like the jumping between people.
[00:04:23 - 00:04:25] Super easy to follow along.
[00:04:25 - 00:04:25] Right.
[00:04:25 - 00:04:26] My wife was there.
[00:04:26 - 00:04:28] She had no idea who Jean Grey was.
[00:04:28 - 00:04:30] She was confused when people were cheering,
[00:04:30 - 00:04:31] when her name came on screen.
[00:04:31 - 00:04:31] That's hilarious.
[00:04:31 - 00:04:32] It was kind of funny.
[00:04:32 - 00:04:34] I was like, she's a famous X-man.

Drew:
[00:04:34 - 00:04:37] My mom is seeing it Saturday with me.
[00:04:37 - 00:04:40] And she's not going to know who Jean Grey is.
[00:04:40 - 00:04:41] She's not going to know who Punisher is.
[00:04:42 - 00:04:44] She's barely going to know who Bruce Banner is.

Grant:
[00:04:44 - 00:04:45] Okay.
[00:04:45 - 00:04:46] Well, it'll be interesting.
[00:04:46 - 00:04:48] I have a compliment for this movie though,
[00:04:48 - 00:04:50] because Polly also didn't know who the Punisher was.
[00:04:51 - 00:04:52] Again, didn't know who Jean Grey was.
[00:04:52 - 00:04:54] And this movie does a good job of introducing you to,
[00:04:55 - 00:04:56] at least Jean Grey really well.
[00:04:56 - 00:04:59] You get basically her backstory here.
[00:04:59 - 00:04:59] Yeah.
[00:04:59 - 00:05:02] And then also, you know enough about the Punisher
[00:05:02 - 00:05:04] just from what the movie tells you that you're like,
[00:05:04 - 00:05:05] oh, this is funny.

Drew:
[00:05:05 - 00:05:09] So I would even say it's a good introduction to Frank Castle
[00:05:09 - 00:05:13] because you understand his kill rule pretty instantaneously.

Grant:
[00:05:13 - 00:05:14] Yeah.

Drew:
[00:05:14 - 00:05:16] You're like, all right, he's just this mercenary
[00:05:16 - 00:05:17] trying to kill the bad guys.

Grant:
[00:05:17 - 00:05:18] Yep.
[00:05:18 - 00:05:20] And then you also get that little glimpse of his family
[00:05:20 - 00:05:22] and like, oh, there's a layer under there.
[00:05:22 - 00:05:23] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:05:23 - 00:05:26] So I think that the movie does a good job of not going
[00:05:26 - 00:05:28] too far in on Frank Castle.
[00:05:28 - 00:05:30] But like, you get enough there that if you're new to the Punisher
[00:05:30 - 00:05:32] as a character, you can understand it.
[00:05:32 - 00:05:32] I agree.
[00:05:33 - 00:05:36] I don't know, more stuff about Jean Grey, I guess like,
[00:05:36 - 00:05:39] the big actual villain in my mind,
[00:05:39 - 00:05:41] whose name I cannot remember from the movie.
[00:05:41 - 00:05:41] Starts with an M.
[00:05:42 - 00:05:44] I'm going to call him Mr. Milchick.
[00:05:44 - 00:05:44] Yeah.
[00:05:44 - 00:05:45] It's Tramel Tillman.

Drew:
[00:05:45 - 00:05:48] He's low key playing the same character as Severance.

Grant:
[00:05:48 - 00:05:48] Yes, he is.
[00:05:48 - 00:05:49] Which is fine.
[00:05:49 - 00:05:50] He's great.
[00:05:50 - 00:05:53] He's kind of the actual villain of this movie.
[00:05:53 - 00:05:54] I need to look up what his name is.
[00:05:54 - 00:05:56] But I think it does start with an M.
[00:05:56 - 00:05:57] It might, honestly.
[00:05:57 - 00:06:01] But I think that the movie kind of ends up framing it like,
[00:06:01 - 00:06:04] okay, Jean Grey isn't actually a villain.
[00:06:04 - 00:06:05] She's just trying to save her sister.
[00:06:06 - 00:06:08] But she's doing things that are bad to do that.
[00:06:08 - 00:06:09] So.
[00:06:09 - 00:06:10] Right.
[00:06:10 - 00:06:10] I don't know.
[00:06:10 - 00:06:11] What did you think about that?

Drew:
[00:06:11 - 00:06:12] I thought it was good.
[00:06:12 - 00:06:17] I will say this plot is not the craziest plot I've ever seen.
[00:06:17 - 00:06:18] Yeah.
[00:06:18 - 00:06:20] There is a level of predictability
[00:06:20 - 00:06:22] that if you see in enough superhero stuff,
[00:06:22 - 00:06:24] you can, it's pretty easy to be like,
[00:06:24 - 00:06:26] I don't think Tramel Tillman here
[00:06:26 - 00:06:27] is the good guy.
[00:06:27 - 00:06:28] Right.
[00:06:28 - 00:06:29] I think he's lying.
[00:06:29 - 00:06:29] Yes.
[00:06:29 - 00:06:34] Like damage control in the MCU has kind of been an antagonistic thing.
[00:06:37 - 00:06:39] So yeah, it's not that hard to figure out.
[00:06:39 - 00:06:40] But I thought it was good.
[00:06:40 - 00:06:41] William Metzger, by the way.
[00:06:41 - 00:06:41] William Metzger.
[00:06:41 - 00:06:42] So there wasn't him.
[00:06:42 - 00:06:43] There wasn't him.

Grant:
[00:06:43 - 00:06:45] so Mr. Metzger, that's good.
[00:06:45 - 00:06:48] I'm going to get that mixed up at some point.
[00:06:49 - 00:06:51] But I mean, him being the ultimate villain,
[00:06:52 - 00:06:54] while it was relatively predictable,
[00:06:54 - 00:06:56] like I could kind of see where the story was going.
[00:06:57 - 00:07:00] Same with the Peter like evolution thing within his DNA,
[00:07:00 - 00:07:01] which we'll talk about like,
[00:07:01 - 00:07:03] okay, I can see where that storyline was going to,
[00:07:03 - 00:07:05] but they're still well done and well conveyed.
[00:07:05 - 00:07:07] And I think the script is pretty good here.
[00:07:07 - 00:07:08] So.

Drew:
[00:07:08 - 00:07:10] I also don't think predictability is a detractor from this movie.

Grant:
[00:07:10 - 00:07:11] Yeah.

Drew:
[00:07:11 - 00:07:13] That like the fact that I knew where we were going didn't
[00:07:14 - 00:07:16] make me want to get there any less.

Grant:
[00:07:16 - 00:07:19] Yeah, like I like the direction that they went in.
[00:07:19 - 00:07:20] And I guess this is one other,
[00:07:21 - 00:07:24] maybe critique slash conversation I've seen online recently.
[00:07:24 - 00:07:25] More just about this movie generally.
[00:07:27 - 00:07:30] People, I think maybe have been concerned that Jean Grey's
[00:07:30 - 00:07:31] in this movie as the villain.
[00:07:31 - 00:07:34] Why wasn't it Mr. Negative or whatever?

Drew:
[00:07:34 - 00:07:35] We actually had a comment say that.

Grant:
[00:07:35 - 00:07:36] Yes, we did.
[00:07:36 - 00:07:40] Or like, why didn't they go with more multiverse stuff?
[00:07:41 - 00:07:44] Which I don't think a lot of people are really asking for.
[00:07:44 - 00:07:45] Or why didn't they go into the Sonyverse?
[00:07:46 - 00:07:48] I think a lot of those answers can kind of,
[00:07:48 - 00:07:50] or those questions can answer themselves like,
[00:07:51 - 00:07:54] well, Mr. Negative maybe is something that could happen in the future.
[00:07:55 - 00:07:58] But there is an insomniac game with him as the villain.
[00:07:58 - 00:07:59] That is pretty good.
[00:08:01 - 00:08:01] You good?
[00:08:01 - 00:08:03] Oh, yeah, I'm still getting over sickness.
[00:08:03 - 00:08:03] I'm so sorry.
[00:08:04 - 00:08:08] But you can experience that story already out there in the world.
[00:08:08 - 00:08:09] That's a great game.
[00:08:09 - 00:08:11] And then, yeah, the Sonyverse is a mess.
[00:08:12 - 00:08:13] So let's not do that.
[00:08:13 - 00:08:14] Agreed, yeah.
[00:08:14 - 00:08:16] And then I think we're all tired of the multiverse.
[00:08:16 - 00:08:20] And so I think it was a refreshing break from that in this film.

Drew:
[00:08:20 - 00:08:23] I think I think I thought it was good.
[00:08:24 - 00:08:26] And I said this kind of in the No Spoiler video,
[00:08:26 - 00:08:30] but when you have your themes and your third act
[00:08:30 - 00:08:32] conclude with the themes and the plot,
[00:08:32 - 00:08:35] I think it lands kind of the one-two punch-up storytelling,
[00:08:35 - 00:08:38] which is kind of where you want to land in general.
[00:08:38 - 00:08:43] So when you have this villain who is a foil to Peter Parker,
[00:08:43 - 00:08:45] I'm not saying it's the craziest foil ever.

Grant:
[00:08:45 - 00:08:45] No.

Drew:
[00:08:45 - 00:08:47] Like, again, it's predictable.
[00:08:47 - 00:08:52] But it lands emotionally and the plot, it wraps up very,
[00:08:52 - 00:08:53] it ties the bow.

Grant:
[00:08:53 - 00:08:55] Well, it's an interesting way to introduce Jean Grey
[00:08:55 - 00:08:58] and kind of the MCU's version of the X-Men into the universe.
[00:08:58 - 00:08:59] I agree.
[00:08:59 - 00:09:01] I know we have Fantastic Four, which is an X-Men,
[00:09:01 - 00:09:04] but we're starting to introduce these Fox characters.
[00:09:04 - 00:09:07] And now they're, I mean, this is a great introduction,
[00:09:07 - 00:09:08] in my opinion.
[00:09:08 - 00:09:09] And say he sings great.
[00:09:09 - 00:09:10] So I agree.
[00:09:10 - 00:09:14] Jean Grey's kind of, I don't know, conniving at some point.
[00:09:14 - 00:09:14] I know.
[00:09:14 - 00:09:19] Like, she intentionally does emotional harm to Peter.
[00:09:20 - 00:09:21] Should we get into?
[00:09:21 - 00:09:22] Talk about the scene.
[00:09:22 - 00:09:23] Okay.

Drew:
[00:09:23 - 00:09:24] This was probably my favorite scene in the whole movie.
[00:09:24 - 00:09:26] Well, it's one or the other.
[00:09:26 - 00:09:26] Okay.
[00:09:28 - 00:09:30] The scene with MJ on the roof.
[00:09:30 - 00:09:30] So good.
[00:09:30 - 00:09:32] Thought it was so good.
[00:09:32 - 00:09:33] So good.
[00:09:33 - 00:09:36] Because, I mean, this is just fantastic writing.
[00:09:36 - 00:09:38] But you think on your first watch, you're like,
[00:09:38 - 00:09:41] oh my gosh, this is the biggest, cheapest thing
[00:09:41 - 00:09:42] I've ever seen.
[00:09:42 - 00:09:43] When they're kissing and you're like,
[00:09:44 - 00:09:44] it's just really out.
[00:09:44 - 00:09:45] They're going to do it.
[00:09:46 - 00:09:47] I can't talk right now.

Grant:
[00:09:47 - 00:09:48] You're good.
[00:09:48 - 00:09:50] You're also like, yeah, this doesn't feel right.
[00:09:50 - 00:09:51] But then there's part of you that's like,
[00:09:51 - 00:09:53] I want this to be how this plays out.
[00:09:53 - 00:09:53] Right.
[00:09:53 - 00:09:55] Like, it feels good, but also not.
[00:09:55 - 00:09:56] As somebody who knows, like, this is bad writing
[00:09:56 - 00:09:57] if this is the way it is.
[00:09:57 - 00:09:59] But then there's the emotional part of me that's like,
[00:09:59 - 00:10:01] I really hope that this is the way it plays out.
[00:10:02 - 00:10:03] And then you get the rug pulled out from under you.
[00:10:03 - 00:10:05] And then you get the rug pulled out.
[00:10:05 - 00:10:06] And then, honestly, Zendaya's switch up
[00:10:06 - 00:10:08] of her performance there is great.
[00:10:08 - 00:10:10] She got like, it was weird.
[00:10:10 - 00:10:11] Maybe this is just my brain.
[00:10:11 - 00:10:14] But the way she was talking sounded like
[00:10:14 - 00:10:15] how Sadie Sink was talking.
[00:10:15 - 00:10:16] I don't know if that was just me.
[00:10:16 - 00:10:17] Maybe.
[00:10:17 - 00:10:19] But, like, there's a performance there
[00:10:19 - 00:10:20] that actually works really well.

Drew:
[00:10:20 - 00:10:24] and then the other scene that was so good,
[00:10:24 - 00:10:28] I thought, is when Zendaya's holding the note.
[00:10:28 - 00:10:28] Yes.
[00:10:28 - 00:10:29] Oh my gosh.
[00:10:29 - 00:10:30] Yeah.
[00:10:30 - 00:10:32] When I said I wanted a sad, depressed Peter Parker,

Grant:
[00:10:33 - 00:10:34] that's what I'm talking about.
[00:10:34 - 00:10:34] Yeah.
[00:10:34 - 00:10:37] Let's let's dive into Ned and MJ and Peter.
[00:10:37 - 00:10:40] Because I think this movie could have also
[00:10:40 - 00:10:42] just abandoned that, like them entirely.
[00:10:42 - 00:10:43] Yeah.
[00:10:43 - 00:10:45] Not had Ned or MJ in the story at all.
[00:10:45 - 00:10:46] You could make the argument that they
[00:10:46 - 00:10:47] should be in it more.
[00:10:47 - 00:10:50] But regardless, they're in this movie
[00:10:50 - 00:10:51] and they're kind of an important part
[00:10:51 - 00:10:52] of Peter's journey in this movie.
[00:10:52 - 00:10:54] So what do you think?
[00:10:54 - 00:10:55] I mean, talk about the note scene.
[00:10:55 - 00:10:56] Maybe continue to talk about that.

Drew:
[00:10:56 - 00:10:58] I mean, the note scene I thought was so good.
[00:10:58 - 00:11:01] When she's like, I'm sorry, but I don't A,
[00:11:01 - 00:11:03] love you and B, know you.
[00:11:03 - 00:11:06] You're like, oh my gosh, that is the saddest thing

Grant:
[00:11:06 - 00:11:07] I've ever heard in my entire life.
[00:11:07 - 00:11:08] Yeah, it does suck.
[00:11:08 - 00:11:10] But like, you can tell somewhere in there,
[00:11:10 - 00:11:12] there's turmoil over this of like,
[00:11:12 - 00:11:14] she knows that Peter's been missing from her life.
[00:11:14 - 00:11:15] Right?

Drew:
[00:11:15 - 00:11:16] Yeah, I think that's true.

Grant:
[00:11:16 - 00:11:18] Even if it's like after the fact,
[00:11:18 - 00:11:19] after she realizes that it's Peter.
[00:11:19 - 00:11:24] So here's what I loved about the trio, I guess.
[00:11:24 - 00:11:24] Okay.

Drew:
[00:11:24 - 00:11:27] One, we didn't wrap up it.
[00:11:27 - 00:11:28] We didn't wrap it up.
[00:11:28 - 00:11:29] Yeah.
[00:11:29 - 00:11:30] I loved that.
[00:11:30 - 00:11:30] Yeah.

Grant:
[00:11:30 - 00:11:32] I didn't want it to be a one movie fix.
[00:11:32 - 00:11:33] Yeah, it's not like Peter and MJ
[00:11:33 - 00:11:34] kissed at the end of the movie.
[00:11:34 - 00:11:35] They didn't.
[00:11:35 - 00:11:35] Right.

Drew:
[00:11:35 - 00:11:36] I think it's great.
[00:11:37 - 00:11:40] And B, the last shot of the movie,
[00:11:40 - 00:11:43] I loved the handshake with Ned.

Grant:
[00:11:43 - 00:11:45] I think, and we can talk about this,
[00:11:45 - 00:11:47] maybe in depth more,
[00:11:47 - 00:11:50] but there are elements of the Homecoming trilogy
[00:11:50 - 00:11:51] that are really, really good.
[00:11:52 - 00:11:52] Yes.
[00:11:52 - 00:11:53] And then there are elements that are not so good.
[00:11:54 - 00:11:54] I agree.
[00:11:54 - 00:11:58] I think this movie pulls out the emotional core of that trilogy
[00:11:58 - 00:12:00] and the best parts of them into this movie,
[00:12:00 - 00:12:02] and it works super well.
[00:12:02 - 00:12:02] I agree.
[00:12:02 - 00:12:03] Like the handshake at the end is,
[00:12:03 - 00:12:05] that was the perfect way to do it.
[00:12:05 - 00:12:05] I think it's great.
[00:12:05 - 00:12:07] I wouldn't have done it any other way.
[00:12:07 - 00:12:08] Yeah, I think it's great.

Drew:
[00:12:08 - 00:12:09] Yeah.
[00:12:09 - 00:12:13] And then it sets up kind of where we were
[00:12:13 - 00:12:14] in the Homecoming trilogy in the sense of Zendaya
[00:12:14 - 00:12:16] and then no Peter is Peter.
[00:12:16 - 00:12:17] Yes.
[00:12:17 - 00:12:18] And that Peter is Spider-Man.
[00:12:18 - 00:12:19] Yep.
[00:12:19 - 00:12:21] But we're going to do it through this more mature light,
[00:12:21 - 00:12:24] which I'm super interested to see where this all goes.
[00:12:24 - 00:12:24] Yeah.
[00:12:24 - 00:12:26] But I have one comment.
[00:12:26 - 00:12:27] Okay.
[00:12:28 - 00:12:29] Going off what you said.
[00:12:29 - 00:12:30] Okay, go for it.
[00:12:32 - 00:12:34] Is Aunt May a retcon?
[00:12:36 - 00:12:37] Like, as a character?
[00:12:37 - 00:12:38] Here's what I'm trying to say.
[00:12:38 - 00:12:39] Okay, yeah, explain.
[00:12:39 - 00:12:42] We criticized Marissa Tomei,
[00:12:42 - 00:12:43] not really Marissa Tomei, but.
[00:12:43 - 00:12:44] No, she's great.
[00:12:44 - 00:12:47] Aunt May as being just the hot, plucky aunt
[00:12:47 - 00:12:48] in the first trilogy.
[00:12:48 - 00:12:49] Yep, that's true.
[00:12:49 - 00:12:54] And didn't have a lot of depth until No Way Home
[00:12:54 - 00:12:55] really went like the plot and needed it.
[00:12:55 - 00:12:55] Yes.
[00:12:56 - 00:12:58] I kind of had the same accusation here of,
[00:13:00 - 00:13:03] and I don't really know where I stand on this, honestly,
[00:13:03 - 00:13:07] but that scene in Brand New Day,
[00:13:07 - 00:13:08] that's the flashback,
[00:13:08 - 00:13:12] is right after Aunt May figures out that it's Peter.
[00:13:13 - 00:13:14] That Peter is spider.
[00:13:14 - 00:13:15] You said Aunt May.
[00:13:15 - 00:13:16] I know, I meant Aunt May.
[00:13:17 - 00:13:18] Oh, oh, oh, sorry.
[00:13:18 - 00:13:20] When they're on the bed and like,
[00:13:20 - 00:13:21] he's in the Homecoming suit
[00:13:21 - 00:13:23] and the bag from Tony Stark is right.
[00:13:23 - 00:13:23] Correct.
[00:13:23 - 00:13:25] And then she gives this big emotional speech of like,
[00:13:27 - 00:13:29] hey, friendship is important basically.
[00:13:30 - 00:13:32] It feels heavy handed to me.
[00:13:32 - 00:13:36] It feels shoehorned in because the plot needs
[00:13:37 - 00:13:38] to hammer these themes in.
[00:13:39 - 00:13:43] And Aunt May has to say X thing for the themes to hit home.
[00:13:43 - 00:13:43] For sure.
[00:13:43 - 00:13:49] And we didn't see Aunt May have this emotional depth of Peter
[00:13:49 - 00:13:50] until No Way Home.

Grant:
[00:13:50 - 00:13:52] Yeah, I mean, I do think that this is one of the weaker
[00:13:52 - 00:13:55] parts of the movie, which is unfortunate
[00:13:55 - 00:13:57] because it kind of is an important-ish part of the movie.
[00:13:57 - 00:13:58] I agree.
[00:13:58 - 00:14:00] Or at least proposed as that in the movie.
[00:14:00 - 00:14:04] But I guess if you're asking if it's a full retcon of Aunt May-
[00:14:04 - 00:14:05] It's not like a retcon.
[00:14:05 - 00:14:05] No, I know what you're saying.
[00:14:05 - 00:14:09] But like, is it kind of trying to fix Aunt May's character
[00:14:09 - 00:14:10] a little bit and like give her more depth
[00:14:10 - 00:14:12] from the Homecoming trilogy for sure?
[00:14:12 - 00:14:13] Yeah.
[00:14:13 - 00:14:16] But also, if this actually happened,
[00:14:16 - 00:14:19] which like now it's canon, this did happen,
[00:14:19 - 00:14:21] yes, Peter would probably be thinking about this moment
[00:14:21 - 00:14:22] from time to time.
[00:14:22 - 00:14:22] Yeah, I mean, that's true.
[00:14:22 - 00:14:25] And like, it's implied in the Homecoming trilogy
[00:14:25 - 00:14:28] that Aunt May can be like really, I don't know,
[00:14:28 - 00:14:32] inspirational or emotional for Peter in a positive way,
[00:14:32 - 00:14:36] like helps him mature as a man and all this stuff
[00:14:36 - 00:14:40] that we see in the Raimi trilogy from time to time
[00:14:40 - 00:14:42] and then in the 2000 movies too.
[00:14:43 - 00:14:47] And so it's like understood and we see it some here,
[00:14:47 - 00:14:50] but the scene itself, yes, it's handy heavy handed.
[00:14:50 - 00:14:51] So yeah.

Drew:
[00:14:51 - 00:14:53] And let me let us know your thoughts audience
[00:14:53 - 00:14:55] if you liked that scene or not.
[00:14:55 - 00:14:57] That was my biggest criticism of the movie probably.
[00:14:57 - 00:14:59] And like, I liked it.
[00:14:59 - 00:15:01] I think it functions well and it gets the job done.

Grant:
[00:15:02 - 00:15:06] I think too, like it does land a bit better.
[00:15:06 - 00:15:07] And I don't know, I'm kind of torn on this,
[00:15:07 - 00:15:11] but yes, when Jean is now inserted into that scene at the end.

Drew:
[00:15:11 - 00:15:12] Yeah.

Grant:
[00:15:12 - 00:15:14] I think I liked her having that moment
[00:15:14 - 00:15:16] from a mother figure that she never really had.
[00:15:16 - 00:15:17] Yeah, that's true.
[00:15:17 - 00:15:18] She can suddenly relate to Peter
[00:15:18 - 00:15:20] and know the loss that he's felt.
[00:15:20 - 00:15:20] Right.
[00:15:20 - 00:15:25] But also like, hey, there's hope and I don't have to be alone,
[00:15:25 - 00:15:29] which is kind of what she, what Peter's been going through.
[00:15:29 - 00:15:31] And I think that both of those characters
[00:15:31 - 00:15:33] through that scene, Peter and Jean Grey,
[00:15:34 - 00:15:36] find their resolution that they need through that scene.
[00:15:36 - 00:15:38] So maybe in that context, it functions well.

Drew:
[00:15:39 - 00:15:40] Yeah, I mean, I agree.
[00:15:41 - 00:15:46] I thought, I mean, and then two things with the end.
[00:15:46 - 00:15:47] Okay, go for it.
[00:15:47 - 00:15:48] That I want to get into is one,
[00:15:48 - 00:15:50] I think Peter's sacrifice is great.
[00:15:50 - 00:15:50] Yeah.
[00:15:50 - 00:15:52] Getting in front of the bullet.

Grant:
[00:15:52 - 00:15:52] Yeah, he would do that.
[00:15:52 - 00:15:54] That's a Peter Parker thing he do.
[00:15:54 - 00:15:54] 100%.

Drew:
[00:15:54 - 00:16:00] And then I think Jean Grey instantly kind of going back
[00:16:00 - 00:16:03] on what she just said in like moments before of like,
[00:16:03 - 00:16:03] I don't need anyone.
[00:16:03 - 00:16:04] I'm alone.
[00:16:04 - 00:16:05] I like being a loner.
[00:16:05 - 00:16:06] Is she keeps Peter alive?
[00:16:06 - 00:16:07] Yes.
[00:16:07 - 00:16:08] I think that's great.
[00:16:08 - 00:16:09] And it could feel cheap.
[00:16:10 - 00:16:11] And maybe it kind of does to somebody.

Grant:
[00:16:11 - 00:16:13] No, I think it makes sense.
[00:16:13 - 00:16:14] Okay.
[00:16:14 - 00:16:16] Like she had a change by being in Peter's mind
[00:16:16 - 00:16:19] and playing out that scene with Aunt May.
[00:16:19 - 00:16:21] She's like, oh crap, I'm doing this wrong.
[00:16:21 - 00:16:24] And then she's like, Peter just sacrificed himself
[00:16:24 - 00:16:24] to save me.
[00:16:24 - 00:16:26] He barely even knows me.
[00:16:26 - 00:16:27] I'm going to keep him alive.
[00:16:27 - 00:16:29] There's one issue I have, not even with this scene.
[00:16:29 - 00:16:30] Okay.
[00:16:30 - 00:16:32] But immediately after because I caught on super quick
[00:16:32 - 00:16:34] like, oh, Jean's keeping Peter alive.
[00:16:34 - 00:16:35] Yeah.
[00:16:35 - 00:16:38] And then there's a shot when Peter's in the hospital
[00:16:38 - 00:16:41] alive, Frank's with him, and they cut to Peter
[00:16:41 - 00:16:43] and there's an inserted line of dialogue
[00:16:43 - 00:16:46] that's like Frank saying, Jean kept you alive.
[00:16:46 - 00:16:47] I'm like, okay.
[00:16:47 - 00:16:48] It's definitely ADR.
[00:16:48 - 00:16:50] I was like, that is for the audience
[00:16:50 - 00:16:51] to understand what's going on.
[00:16:51 - 00:16:52] And I didn't like that line.
[00:16:52 - 00:16:53] Yeah, I mean, that's fine.
[00:16:53 - 00:16:55] That's one of my very few nitpicks.
[00:16:55 - 00:16:56] That isn't a big deal.
[00:16:56 - 00:16:58] I was like, okay, that's just so we can like
[00:16:58 - 00:17:00] drag the audience along and help them understand
[00:17:00 - 00:17:01] this plot point.

Drew:
[00:17:02 - 00:17:03] Yeah, I agree.

Grant:
[00:17:03 - 00:17:06] So I maybe wasn't the biggest fan of that, but whatever.
[00:17:06 - 00:17:08] But yes, I think it's a good moment from Jean.

Drew:
[00:17:09 - 00:17:12] Yeah, I thought it was great wrapping up her character arc.

Grant:
[00:17:12 - 00:17:13] For sure.

Drew:
[00:17:13 - 00:17:15] I think another thing that I loved is
[00:17:16 - 00:17:18] Frank Castle in Peter Parker's chemistry.
[00:17:18 - 00:17:18] Yeah, it was.
[00:17:18 - 00:17:19] I think it's great.
[00:17:19 - 00:17:20] I think it's hilarious.

Grant:
[00:17:20 - 00:17:23] Now, maybe was this a writer's, sorry.
[00:17:23 - 00:17:25] It was just a writer's room decision where,
[00:17:26 - 00:17:28] you know, they're like, let's have Punisher
[00:17:28 - 00:17:29] and Peter team up.
[00:17:29 - 00:17:29] Probably.
[00:17:29 - 00:17:30] Yes, probably.
[00:17:31 - 00:17:32] But then it's funny when they're teamed up.
[00:17:32 - 00:17:33] So I'm not going to complain if it's like...
[00:17:33 - 00:17:35] It's funny and it makes sense.
[00:17:35 - 00:17:35] Yeah.
[00:17:35 - 00:17:37] I mean, he's a New York hero.
[00:17:38 - 00:17:40] Well, vigilancey.
[00:17:40 - 00:17:41] And so is Peter.
[00:17:41 - 00:17:43] So it makes sense that they would team up.
[00:17:44 - 00:17:44] I don't know.

Drew:
[00:17:44 - 00:17:46] You want to know something that you're not going to
[00:17:46 - 00:17:47] appreciate that I'm saying?
[00:17:47 - 00:17:48] Oh, no.
[00:17:48 - 00:17:48] Well, maybe you are.
[00:17:48 - 00:17:49] I don't know.
[00:17:49 - 00:17:50] Okay, go for it.
[00:17:50 - 00:17:51] We still haven't got an answer of why Frank left
[00:17:51 - 00:17:52] the prison in Daredevil.
[00:17:53 - 00:17:54] No, that's true.
[00:17:54 - 00:17:56] He just left, didn't fight Fisk,
[00:17:56 - 00:17:57] which doesn't make sense.
[00:17:58 - 00:18:00] Also, it's kind of weird that that wasn't
[00:18:00 - 00:18:00] referenced here, but...
[00:18:01 - 00:18:02] Whatever.
[00:18:02 - 00:18:04] The broadcast he was a mess right now.

Grant:
[00:18:04 - 00:18:05] Yeah, if we...
[00:18:05 - 00:18:05] Yeah.
[00:18:05 - 00:18:06] So...
[00:18:06 - 00:18:06] For real.

Drew:
[00:18:06 - 00:18:07] Whatever.

Grant:
[00:18:07 - 00:18:09] Yeah, there was martial law in New York
[00:18:09 - 00:18:11] and now we're just like, ah, but Spider-Man is back.
[00:18:11 - 00:18:11] I know.
[00:18:11 - 00:18:12] It's like, there's not...

Drew:
[00:18:12 - 00:18:14] I'm just going to completely ignore that part.
[00:18:14 - 00:18:16] There's one Fisk poster in the movie that I saw.

Grant:
[00:18:16 - 00:18:18] Oh, I didn't even catch that one.

Drew:
[00:18:18 - 00:18:20] And that's the only reference to Fisk.
[00:18:20 - 00:18:21] I mean, I don't know.

Grant:
[00:18:21 - 00:18:24] Anyway, no, I think that within this movie,
[00:18:24 - 00:18:25] Frank works.
[00:18:25 - 00:18:25] I agree.
[00:18:26 - 00:18:27] Yeah, their scenes are hilarious.
[00:18:28 - 00:18:30] I mean, I'm trying to remember...
[00:18:30 - 00:18:32] There's a few of us in dialogue,
[00:18:32 - 00:18:33] but they're running a bit about him saving him
[00:18:33 - 00:18:34] in Staten Island.
[00:18:34 - 00:18:35] Yeah, I think it's great.
[00:18:35 - 00:18:36] It's like, that was hilarious every time they mentioned it.
[00:18:36 - 00:18:37] I think it's so funny.
[00:18:38 - 00:18:38] Yeah.
[00:18:40 - 00:18:42] There's also a small scene in here that I appreciated.
[00:18:43 - 00:18:44] And it's a scene where...
[00:18:45 - 00:18:47] And like, the movie sets it up so the context makes sense.
[00:18:48 - 00:18:51] But Peter, as Spider-Man, meets Ned
[00:18:51 - 00:18:52] and they play with Legos.

Drew:
[00:18:52 - 00:18:53] Oh my gosh.

Grant:
[00:18:53 - 00:18:54] But I think there's a lot of emotional core
[00:18:54 - 00:18:55] to that scene that like, man...
[00:18:55 - 00:18:56] I agree.
[00:18:56 - 00:18:59] This is playing with the tension that's like leftover
[00:18:59 - 00:19:02] from No Way Home in a good way.
[00:19:02 - 00:19:04] And it makes you really miss these characters being friends.
[00:19:04 - 00:19:05] Yeah, I agree.
[00:19:05 - 00:19:06] Which like, you didn't even get it,
[00:19:06 - 00:19:09] some of them being super close as a trio,
[00:19:10 - 00:19:11] I guess, until No Way Home.

Drew:
[00:19:11 - 00:19:12] Yeah, that's true.
[00:19:13 - 00:19:14] I thought it was great.
[00:19:14 - 00:19:19] I think MJ specifically feels like a completely different character.

Grant:
[00:19:21 - 00:19:22] Which I think makes sense too.
[00:19:22 - 00:19:24] It's not like, oh, this is a crazy switch-up
[00:19:24 - 00:19:24] from No Way Home.

Drew:
[00:19:24 - 00:19:26] It has been like five years.

Grant:
[00:19:26 - 00:19:27] Yeah, fourish years.
[00:19:27 - 00:19:30] And she also forgot about Peter.
[00:19:30 - 00:19:30] I know.
[00:19:30 - 00:19:31] Has a new boyfriend.
[00:19:31 - 00:19:31] Yep.
[00:19:31 - 00:19:33] I mean, she's gone through four years to college.
[00:19:33 - 00:19:34] So like, life is different for her.

Drew:
[00:19:34 - 00:19:36] I think Ned feels different too.
[00:19:36 - 00:19:37] He's definitely still like the comedic relief.

Grant:
[00:19:38 - 00:19:39] Yeah, gosh, yeah.

Drew:
[00:19:39 - 00:19:41] But I think he feels more mature too.

Grant:
[00:19:41 - 00:19:45] The amount of CEO memes I've seen on the internet are large.
[00:19:46 - 00:19:47] I love it.
[00:19:47 - 00:19:48] It's a funny bit, for sure.
[00:19:49 - 00:19:51] No, I think the natural progressions
[00:19:51 - 00:19:52] of those characters throughout the four years,
[00:19:52 - 00:19:54] like, you get these videos with Ned
[00:19:54 - 00:19:56] that he's posting on Instagram.

Drew:
[00:19:56 - 00:19:58] I thought the prologue thing, that was great.
[00:19:58 - 00:19:59] Oh yeah.
[00:19:59 - 00:20:01] It was a great way to tell what happened.

Grant:
[00:20:01 - 00:20:03] But like, the moment where he has the goatee,
[00:20:03 - 00:20:04] like, that's funny.
[00:20:04 - 00:20:04] Right.
[00:20:04 - 00:20:07] A lot of guys in college have a bad facial hair experience,
[00:20:07 - 00:20:07] for sure.
[00:20:09 - 00:20:11] So I think like, you get enough of that,
[00:20:11 - 00:20:12] if they're new for four years,
[00:20:12 - 00:20:14] that their characters don't feel abruptly different
[00:20:14 - 00:20:16] from No Way Home.

Drew:
[00:20:16 - 00:20:16] I agree.
[00:20:16 - 00:20:17] So.
[00:20:17 - 00:20:18] I like the Ned's obsessed with Spider-Man too.
[00:20:18 - 00:20:20] I think that works really well.

Grant:
[00:20:20 - 00:20:22] Like, he probably would be if he had never met Spider-Man.
[00:20:22 - 00:20:23] Yeah.
[00:20:23 - 00:20:26] So, I have a question for you.
[00:20:26 - 00:20:27] This is like, complete gear shift.
[00:20:27 - 00:20:28] Okay, let's shift these gears.
[00:20:29 - 00:20:32] What on earth does Peter Parker do for income?
[00:20:32 - 00:20:35] And I have an answer, like, this is all theoretical.
[00:20:35 - 00:20:36] Oh, in this specific universe?
[00:20:36 - 00:20:39] In this movie, we have no idea what he does for income.
[00:20:39 - 00:20:39] Zero clue.
[00:20:40 - 00:20:46] I guess like, maybe he gets paid by the police to help them out.

Drew:
[00:20:46 - 00:20:47] He says in the movie he's a volunteer.

Grant:
[00:20:48 - 00:20:48] That's true.
[00:20:48 - 00:20:49] He does say that.
[00:20:49 - 00:20:50] Like, I don't know.
[00:20:50 - 00:20:51] I have no idea.
[00:20:51 - 00:20:53] There's no reference to the Daily Bugle here.
[00:20:53 - 00:20:54] There is none.
[00:20:54 - 00:20:54] So.
[00:20:56 - 00:20:57] I have an idea.
[00:20:57 - 00:21:00] And this is just like my headcanon right now.
[00:21:01 - 00:21:04] Peter Parker is a fiend on eBay.
[00:21:04 - 00:21:07] By which I mean, he makes technology all the time
[00:21:07 - 00:21:09] because he's already doing it in his apartment.

Drew:
[00:21:09 - 00:21:09] Oh my gosh.
[00:21:09 - 00:21:09] This is genius.
[00:21:09 - 00:21:10] And he's just selling it on eBay.

Grant:
[00:21:10 - 00:21:11] Yeah.
[00:21:11 - 00:21:12] That's my idea.

Drew:
[00:21:12 - 00:21:13] I love it.
[00:21:13 - 00:21:14] It's canon.
[00:21:15 - 00:21:16] That was not, but that's my guess.

Grant:
[00:21:16 - 00:21:19] If that's Spider-Man 5, though, we sue.
[00:21:19 - 00:21:20] Yeah, for 100%.
[00:21:20 - 00:21:20] 100%.
[00:21:20 - 00:21:22] Tom Holland, did you watch this video?
[00:21:23 - 00:21:24] We know you watch us.
[00:21:25 - 00:21:27] But comment below what y'all think Peter does for a living
[00:21:27 - 00:21:29] because we don't see him delivering pizzas
[00:21:29 - 00:21:31] or giving photos to the Bugle or anything like that.
[00:21:31 - 00:21:32] So.
[00:21:32 - 00:21:33] That's an interesting question.

Drew:
[00:21:33 - 00:21:34] I love that idea.

Grant:
[00:21:34 - 00:21:36] We had some people talk about that on the internet,
[00:21:36 - 00:21:37] maybe in one of our comment sections,
[00:21:37 - 00:21:39] and I was like, I want to think about this.
[00:21:39 - 00:21:40] Because I did think about it in the movie.
[00:21:40 - 00:21:42] I was like, how does he have money
[00:21:42 - 00:21:44] for an apartment in New York right now?
[00:21:44 - 00:21:44] Yeah.
[00:21:44 - 00:21:45] So I don't know.
[00:21:45 - 00:21:47] Should we get into the end scene?
[00:21:47 - 00:21:48] Because I have a prediction of where we're going.
[00:21:48 - 00:21:49] Yeah, for sure.
[00:21:49 - 00:21:49] Go for it.
[00:21:50 - 00:21:52] You're talking about the post-credits scene?
[00:21:52 - 00:21:52] The post-credits scene.
[00:21:53 - 00:21:54] Yeah, I had no idea what to make of that,
[00:21:54 - 00:21:57] and I haven't done any digging on theories there.

Drew:
[00:21:57 - 00:21:59] My theory, and this is my theory,
[00:21:59 - 00:22:00] if you've read comics, you might be like,
[00:22:00 - 00:22:01] duh, that's where we're going.
[00:22:03 - 00:22:05] In the Secret Wars run of the comics.
[00:22:05 - 00:22:06] OK.
[00:22:07 - 00:22:08] I think it's The Beyonder.
[00:22:08 - 00:22:10] But in this, in the MCU, I think it's The Beyonder.
[00:22:10 - 00:22:11] I'm way out of my wheelhouse here.
[00:22:11 - 00:22:13] You just feed it to me like I'm five years old.
[00:22:13 - 00:22:14] I will.
[00:22:15 - 00:22:17] The Beyonder makes Battleworld, right?
[00:22:18 - 00:22:18] Sure.
[00:22:18 - 00:22:21] Where it's this, like, all the universes collide.
[00:22:21 - 00:22:22] OK.
[00:22:22 - 00:22:24] And then he forces everyone to fight, basically.

Grant:
[00:22:24 - 00:22:26] Yes, I've heard of this.

Drew:
[00:22:26 - 00:22:29] I think it's just going to be Dr. Doom does this to some degree,
[00:22:29 - 00:22:31] and he brings Spider-Man in space.
[00:22:32 - 00:22:37] But also, what's really interesting about Spider-Man in Secret Wars
[00:22:37 - 00:22:41] is that he gets the symbiote in space,
[00:22:41 - 00:22:46] and then he goes back to Earth with the Fantastic Four with the Black Suit.
[00:22:47 - 00:22:48] That would be tough.
[00:22:48 - 00:22:52] So Spider-Man 5 with Tom Holland could be the Black Suit arc,
[00:22:52 - 00:22:54] which I'm low-key so excited to see,
[00:22:56 - 00:23:00] hopefully, Destin Daniel Cretton if they can keep him around.

Grant:
[00:23:00 - 00:23:01] Which he's not doing Wonder-Man anymore.

Drew:
[00:23:01 - 00:23:02] Wonder-Man 2 got canceled, by the way, which is...

Grant:
[00:23:02 - 00:23:04] We had some people in our comment section,
[00:23:04 - 00:23:06] when we released our no spoiler video,
[00:23:06 - 00:23:09] Wonder-Man Season 2 was still confirmed to release,
[00:23:09 - 00:23:10] and then they canceled it the next day.

Drew:
[00:23:10 - 00:23:12] Which, that's stupid.

Grant:
[00:23:12 - 00:23:13] But since he's not doing Wonder-Man Season 2...
[00:23:13 - 00:23:15] He better be doing Spider-Man 5.
[00:23:15 - 00:23:15] Please.
[00:23:16 - 00:23:21] But I guess maybe bouncing launch padding off that.
[00:23:21 - 00:23:21] Okay, let's do it.
[00:23:22 - 00:23:24] Where do you see the future of Spider-Man going?
[00:23:24 - 00:23:30] Because they've said they're going to plan however many more movies.
[00:23:30 - 00:23:31] 5 or 8, I don't know.
[00:23:31 - 00:23:33] Tom Holland said that he has a way he wants to pass it off.
[00:23:34 - 00:23:35] Is that to Miles Morales?
[00:23:35 - 00:23:36] Like, what are we doing here?
[00:23:36 - 00:23:37] Here's what I want to happen.

Drew:
[00:23:37 - 00:23:38] Okay.
[00:23:38 - 00:23:40] And Drew's headcanon universe.
[00:23:40 - 00:23:40] Okay.
[00:23:42 - 00:23:44] Five, I want to be the Black Suit arc.
[00:23:44 - 00:23:44] Okay.
[00:23:45 - 00:23:47] And I don't even know if we need to do Venom.
[00:23:48 - 00:23:49] I don't think we do.

Grant:
[00:23:50 - 00:23:51] We've seen Venom on off times.
[00:23:53 - 00:23:54] Here's my one argument.
[00:23:54 - 00:23:54] Okay.
[00:23:54 - 00:23:57] We've never seen Venom done super well.

Drew:
[00:23:57 - 00:23:57] True.
[00:23:57 - 00:23:59] And here's my theory.
[00:23:59 - 00:24:00] We could do Black Suit arc,
[00:24:01 - 00:24:04] have Peter conquer the Black Suit at the end of the movie,
[00:24:04 - 00:24:05] get it off him.
[00:24:05 - 00:24:06] Okay.
[00:24:06 - 00:24:07] And then, the post-credits scene.
[00:24:08 - 00:24:10] And we introduced Eddie Brock in this movie.
[00:24:10 - 00:24:13] As a character, just as a straight up character.

Grant:
[00:24:13 - 00:24:17] Somebody who doesn't, like, go to God and pray to kill Peter Parker too, please.
[00:24:17 - 00:24:17] Right.

Drew:
[00:24:17 - 00:24:20] He is literally just there to introduce him.

Grant:
[00:24:20 - 00:24:20] Yes.

Drew:
[00:24:20 - 00:24:24] And then, in the post-credits scene, we see the symbiote and Eddie Brock.
[00:24:24 - 00:24:25] Yeah.
[00:24:25 - 00:24:25] Attached.
[00:24:25 - 00:24:27] And then we have a Venom movie.
[00:24:27 - 00:24:30] Or we have a Venom show or something.
[00:24:30 - 00:24:30] Yeah.
[00:24:30 - 00:24:34] And then, Spider-Man 6 would be we introduce Miles.
[00:24:35 - 00:24:38] And then Spider-Man 7 is Miles officially.
[00:24:38 - 00:24:39] I would be game for that.
[00:24:39 - 00:24:42] This is what I want from the MCU.

Grant:
[00:24:42 - 00:24:46] And since Tom Holland apparently just peruses the internet and finds what Spider-Man fans want.
[00:24:47 - 00:24:48] We want this, Tom.
[00:24:48 - 00:24:49] That's what we want.
[00:24:49 - 00:24:51] Thanks for watching our video, Tom.
[00:24:51 - 00:24:52] Please subscribe.

Drew:
[00:24:52 - 00:24:54] Let us know, audience, if you think that's a good idea.
[00:24:54 - 00:24:56] Or what you want for Spider-Man for the future.

Grant:
[00:24:57 - 00:25:02] But I think I like that this movie, again, kind of goes, even though it gets into other
[00:25:02 - 00:25:06] characters and we have the Hulk in here and Punisher and Jean Grey,
[00:25:06 - 00:25:09] this movie also stays relatively New York-centered ground level.
[00:25:09 - 00:25:10] I agree.
[00:25:10 - 00:25:13] There's a lot of sequences that feel like the Insomniac games.
[00:25:13 - 00:25:16] So I'm a fan of all that Spider-Man is right now.

Drew:
[00:25:16 - 00:25:20] It feels very comic book-y and that's like the most cliche thing ever, but I'm okay with that.

Grant:
[00:25:20 - 00:25:25] I might have said this on the No Spoiler podcast, but this movie balances everything well.
[00:25:25 - 00:25:30] It's where it feels like a comic book, but also there's agency behind all the characters.
[00:25:30 - 00:25:34] And like, yes, it makes sense in this situation that Hulk is now Hulk because
[00:25:34 - 00:25:35] of what Jean did.
[00:25:35 - 00:25:39] Like the character interactions actually make sense within the movie.
[00:25:39 - 00:25:44] And they aren't just like, okay, we're fighting Hulk now because Spider-Man versus Hulk
[00:25:44 - 00:25:46] is cool to see on screen and people will like it.
[00:25:46 - 00:25:47] I know it.
[00:25:47 - 00:25:50] Yes, that might have been the reasoning to write it, but then it's well-written.
[00:25:50 - 00:25:51] It is well-written, yeah.
[00:25:51 - 00:25:53] That's my thoughts there.

Drew:
[00:25:53 - 00:25:56] Should we get into our, because we've already done our ranking,
[00:25:56 - 00:26:00] first of all my line, go watch the No Spoiler video if you are curious.
[00:26:01 - 00:26:03] But should we do our Spider-Man ranking?
[00:26:03 - 00:26:04] Yeah, for sure.
[00:26:04 - 00:26:05] Let's do it.

Grant:
[00:26:05 - 00:26:05] Can you say off the dome?
[00:26:05 - 00:26:08] Do you know them all eight movies that we've ranked off the dome?

Drew:
[00:26:08 - 00:26:09] Let's see.
[00:26:09 - 00:26:10] We have Spider-Man two.
[00:26:10 - 00:26:11] Yep.
[00:26:11 - 00:26:11] At one.
[00:26:11 - 00:26:12] Yep.
[00:26:12 - 00:26:13] Spider-Man one.
[00:26:13 - 00:26:13] At two.
[00:26:13 - 00:26:13] At two.
[00:26:13 - 00:26:14] Yep.
[00:26:15 - 00:26:16] TASM.
[00:26:16 - 00:26:17] No.
[00:26:17 - 00:26:17] Yes.
[00:26:17 - 00:26:17] Yes.
[00:26:17 - 00:26:18] TASM.

Grant:
[00:26:18 - 00:26:19] TASM one.
[00:26:19 - 00:26:19] No way home.
[00:26:20 - 00:26:20] Yes.
[00:26:21 - 00:26:23] Oh, this is where it gets dicey.
[00:26:23 - 00:26:23] It's okay.
[00:26:23 - 00:26:25] No way home at four.
[00:26:25 - 00:26:26] No way home is at four.
[00:26:26 - 00:26:27] At number five we have...

Drew:
[00:26:29 - 00:26:29] Homecoming.

Grant:
[00:26:29 - 00:26:30] Nope.
[00:26:30 - 00:26:31] We have TASM two.

Drew:
[00:26:32 - 00:26:32] Which I like.
[00:26:32 - 00:26:33] I think that's good actually.

Grant:
[00:26:33 - 00:26:36] This is what I don't like, but we'll get into that.

Drew:
[00:26:36 - 00:26:36] And then Homecoming.

Grant:
[00:26:36 - 00:26:37] Yes.
[00:26:37 - 00:26:37] At number six.
[00:26:37 - 00:26:38] And then Far From Home.
[00:26:38 - 00:26:39] At number seven.
[00:26:39 - 00:26:40] And then Raimi three.
[00:26:40 - 00:26:40] Yes.

Drew:
[00:26:40 - 00:26:41] Got it.

Grant:
[00:26:41 - 00:26:42] I'm going to propose a trade here.
[00:26:43 - 00:26:46] A trade, a mutually beneficial trade for our ranking list.
[00:26:46 - 00:26:47] Okay.
[00:26:47 - 00:26:48] I will hear you.
[00:26:48 - 00:26:52] I will let Spider-Man three be better in this ranking.
[00:26:52 - 00:26:52] Then Far From Home.
[00:26:52 - 00:26:53] Then Far From Home.
[00:26:53 - 00:26:54] That is my propose.
[00:26:54 - 00:26:55] You win that argument there.
[00:26:56 - 00:26:58] And we bump up Homecoming over TASM two.
[00:26:59 - 00:27:01] That's the trade I'm proposing right now.
[00:27:02 - 00:27:04] This is a momentous occasion.
[00:27:04 - 00:27:04] I love this.
[00:27:04 - 00:27:05] That's fine.
[00:27:05 - 00:27:05] Okay.
[00:27:05 - 00:27:06] We can make that switch.
[00:27:06 - 00:27:07] Yep.
[00:27:07 - 00:27:08] So hopefully that's usually beneficial.

Drew:
[00:27:08 - 00:27:10] But Spider-Man three is better than Far From Home,
[00:27:10 - 00:27:11] which is garbage movie.

Grant:
[00:27:11 - 00:27:13] And Homecoming is better than TASM two,
[00:27:13 - 00:27:16] which is while I like parts of TASM two,
[00:27:16 - 00:27:17] it's not better than Homecoming.

Drew:
[00:27:17 - 00:27:18] TASM two is so good.

Grant:
[00:27:18 - 00:27:18] All right.
[00:27:18 - 00:27:20] So to read off this updated list for y'all,
[00:27:20 - 00:27:22] which I'm so sorry that you had to sit through
[00:27:22 - 00:27:24] our horrible ranking that we've now fixed.

Drew:
[00:27:25 - 00:27:27] But we switched two movies.
[00:27:27 - 00:27:27] I know.

Grant:
[00:27:27 - 00:27:28] And it's so much better.
[00:27:28 - 00:27:29] We have Spider-Man two at one.
[00:27:29 - 00:27:30] Spider-Man one at two.
[00:27:31 - 00:27:32] Number three is TASM one.
[00:27:32 - 00:27:34] Number four is No Way Home.
[00:27:34 - 00:27:35] Number five is Homecoming.
[00:27:35 - 00:27:37] Number six is Spider-Man two,
[00:27:37 - 00:27:38] or sorry, the amazing Spider-Man two.
[00:27:39 - 00:27:40] Number seven is Spider-Man three.
[00:27:40 - 00:27:41] Number eight is Far From Home.
[00:27:41 - 00:27:43] I'm okay with this ranking.

Drew:
[00:27:43 - 00:27:44] I think this is good.

Grant:
[00:27:45 - 00:27:47] After all of that mental calculus
[00:27:47 - 00:27:48] that y'all had to listen to,
[00:27:49 - 00:27:50] where we put a brand new day.

Drew:
[00:27:50 - 00:27:50] Here is brand new day.

Grant:
[00:27:51 - 00:27:51] All right.

Drew:
[00:27:51 - 00:27:53] The moment we've all been waiting for.
[00:27:53 - 00:27:54] We'll start from the bottom.
[00:27:54 - 00:27:55] It's better than Far From Home.

Grant:
[00:27:55 - 00:27:57] Brand new day is better than Far From Home.
[00:27:57 - 00:27:57] Yes.
[00:27:57 - 00:27:58] Way better.
[00:27:58 - 00:27:59] Better than Spider-Man three.
[00:27:59 - 00:28:00] It is.
[00:28:00 - 00:28:01] Better than TASM two.

Drew:
[00:28:02 - 00:28:03] Yes.

Grant:
[00:28:03 - 00:28:04] Better than Homecoming.
[00:28:04 - 00:28:05] Yes.
[00:28:05 - 00:28:06] Better than No Way Home.
[00:28:06 - 00:28:06] Yes.
[00:28:07 - 00:28:08] Better than TASM one.
[00:28:08 - 00:28:09] Yes.
[00:28:10 - 00:28:11] Better than Spider-Man one.
[00:28:11 - 00:28:12] Here's the conversation.
[00:28:12 - 00:28:14] I'm okay with it being better than all these other movies
[00:28:14 - 00:28:15] like straight up.
[00:28:15 - 00:28:16] Yeah, I think it is.

Drew:
[00:28:17 - 00:28:19] I don't think it's better than Spider-Man one.

Grant:
[00:28:20 - 00:28:21] Give your reasoning,
[00:28:21 - 00:28:23] because I think if we're talking like as a movie,
[00:28:24 - 00:28:26] it's like quality of film alone,
[00:28:26 - 00:28:29] it's probably a bit higher than Spider-Man one.
[00:28:29 - 00:28:29] I agree.
[00:28:29 - 00:28:31] But remember, we have our, we have our,
[00:28:32 - 00:28:33] I'm making that decision for new listeners.
[00:28:33 - 00:28:34] For new listeners.
[00:28:34 - 00:28:35] 65, 35.
[00:28:35 - 00:28:38] For new listeners, that's the distinction we're making.
[00:28:38 - 00:28:40] We are also waiting, how is it as a Spider-Man movie?
[00:28:40 - 00:28:42] Also, if you're new to the channel, consider subscribing.
[00:28:42 - 00:28:43] You should subscribe.
[00:28:43 - 00:28:44] It would be great.
[00:28:44 - 00:28:45] Do it.
[00:28:45 - 00:28:45] Just for us.
[00:28:45 - 00:28:46] Yeah.
[00:28:46 - 00:28:46] Yeah.
[00:28:46 - 00:28:47] It's like great for you.

Drew:
[00:28:49 - 00:28:50] Here's my argument.
[00:28:50 - 00:28:51] Okay, make your argument.
[00:28:51 - 00:28:53] Spider-Man one themes are
[00:28:56 - 00:28:57] more Spider-Man.
[00:28:58 - 00:28:59] Yeah.
[00:28:59 - 00:29:00] I would argue Brand New Day is all pretty good.
[00:29:01 - 00:29:05] And they are less heavy-handed despite the dialogue being atrocious.
[00:29:06 - 00:29:07] It's not fed to you.
[00:29:08 - 00:29:11] Peter's actions are what nailed the themes down at the end,
[00:29:11 - 00:29:15] which is him leaving MJ, as opposed to Aunt May's speech.
[00:29:15 - 00:29:16] I'm going to critique your argument.

Grant:
[00:29:16 - 00:29:17] Okay, that's fine.
[00:29:17 - 00:29:19] You, you love this movie.
[00:29:19 - 00:29:21] And I like this movie a lot.
[00:29:21 - 00:29:25] I think I've warmed up on it since we initially reviewed it like a year ago.
[00:29:25 - 00:29:28] But you kind of hang your hat on this decision at the end of the movie.
[00:29:28 - 00:29:29] I know, I know, I know, I know.
[00:29:29 - 00:29:32] And I think it's a great decision and a great superhero moment.
[00:29:33 - 00:29:35] But all of the moments leading up to it are not that great.
[00:29:36 - 00:29:38] Like, there are some really good ones, but like,
[00:29:38 - 00:29:40] are we really about to put this at number two?

Drew:
[00:29:41 - 00:29:42] I don't know, probably not.
[00:29:42 - 00:29:43] No, I kind of agree with you, actually.

Grant:
[00:29:47 - 00:29:47] I agree.
[00:29:47 - 00:29:51] I mean, also like, we, and I don't want this to be the argument,
[00:29:51 - 00:29:53] but Brand New Day would not be good without the Raimi,
[00:29:53 - 00:29:54] initial Raimi.
[00:29:54 - 00:29:55] This movie is very influence-

Drew:
[00:29:55 - 00:29:56] But like, we can't make that argument.
[00:29:56 - 00:29:57] No, I agree.
[00:29:58 - 00:29:59] I, I agree.
[00:29:59 - 00:30:04] I think Brand New Day is a better movie all together than Raimi.
[00:30:06 - 00:30:09] Like, I think just structurally from a writing perspective.
[00:30:10 - 00:30:14] my, again, my one argument is the themes.
[00:30:14 - 00:30:17] The themes hit harder for me and Raimi won,
[00:30:17 - 00:30:18] but they hit hard in Brand New Day.

Grant:
[00:30:18 - 00:30:21] I think I'm okay to say it's number three.

Drew:
[00:30:21 - 00:30:24] I was about to say I'm okay with it being number two.

Grant:
[00:30:24 - 00:30:25] Do you want it to be number two?

Drew:
[00:30:25 - 00:30:28] I think a little bit of me does and I'm, I'm surprised by that.

Grant:
[00:30:29 - 00:30:32] I, the one concern I have too is that we're going to come
[00:30:32 - 00:30:35] crashing down to earth in like three weeks and be like,
[00:30:35 - 00:30:37] okay, this shouldn't be number two Spider-Man movie.
[00:30:37 - 00:30:38] I've seen it twice.
[00:30:38 - 00:30:39] That's true, you have.
[00:30:39 - 00:30:40] I don't know.
[00:30:40 - 00:30:43] I haven't soured on it in the 48 hours since I've seen it.
[00:30:45 - 00:30:45] So.

Drew:
[00:30:46 - 00:30:47] I'm okay with number three.

Grant:
[00:30:47 - 00:30:49] Okay, let's leave it there for right now.

Drew:
[00:30:49 - 00:30:50] We'll, we'll touch base.

Grant:
[00:30:50 - 00:30:50] Yes.
[00:30:50 - 00:30:51] Later.
[00:30:51 - 00:30:53] But the next Spider-Man movie comes out.
[00:30:53 - 00:30:54] Four years we'll touch base.
[00:30:54 - 00:30:55] No, well, here's what we're going to do.
[00:30:55 - 00:30:58] We're going to at some point do the Spider-Verse movies
[00:30:58 - 00:31:00] and we'll insert them into this ranking.
[00:31:00 - 00:31:00] Okay.
[00:31:01 - 00:31:02] And then we'll talk about it.
[00:31:02 - 00:31:02] Yeah, that's fine.
[00:31:02 - 00:31:04] Should we update Brand New Day?
[00:31:04 - 00:31:06] So in like nine months, we'll get back here.
[00:31:06 - 00:31:07] Yes, I like that.
[00:31:08 - 00:31:09] I like where we're at with this.
[00:31:09 - 00:31:10] I think it's great.
[00:31:10 - 00:31:12] Do you have anything else you want to talk about
[00:31:12 - 00:31:13] with this movie?
[00:31:14 - 00:31:16] I, I ask a final question.
[00:31:16 - 00:31:16] Don't think so.
[00:31:17 - 00:31:19] Let us know what you thought of Spider-Man Brand New Day.
[00:31:21 - 00:31:22] Do you like the direction that Spider-Man is going?
[00:31:22 - 00:31:24] Do you like how involved in the MCU it was?
[00:31:25 - 00:31:27] Do you wish it was involved in the Sony-Verse?
[00:31:28 - 00:31:29] Please answer no.
[00:31:29 - 00:31:30] Yeah, please say no.
[00:31:30 - 00:31:32] You can say yes, but then.

Drew:
[00:31:32 - 00:31:34] If one person comments, where was Madam Webb?

Grant:
[00:31:34 - 00:31:35] I'm deleting your comment.
[00:31:36 - 00:31:36] I'm sorry.
[00:31:38 - 00:31:38] Okay.
[00:31:38 - 00:31:40] No, but here's my final question for you, Drew.
[00:31:40 - 00:31:41] You're at a party.
[00:31:42 - 00:31:44] As a chill birthday party, you don't know a lot of people.
[00:31:44 - 00:31:46] You've got like two mutual friends,
[00:31:47 - 00:31:49] but it's a Spider-Man themed birthday party.
[00:31:49 - 00:31:51] Hey, this is a Spider-Man themed birthday party.
[00:31:51 - 00:31:52] This is a Spider-Man themed birthday party.
[00:31:52 - 00:31:55] And they invited you purely because they know you love Spider-Man.
[00:31:55 - 00:31:56] They know I love Spider-Man.
[00:31:58 - 00:32:00] Question number one, Brand New Day is on the TV.
[00:32:00 - 00:32:01] Are you conversing?
[00:32:01 - 00:32:05] Everybody else is in the living room talking about Spider-Man.
[00:32:05 - 00:32:06] But Brand New Day is on in another room.
[00:32:06 - 00:32:08] Are you watching Brand New Day or are you talking about Spider-Man?
[00:32:10 - 00:32:12] This is a different spin on the question.
[00:32:12 - 00:32:12] I know.
[00:32:12 - 00:32:14] I like changing it up every single time.
[00:32:14 - 00:32:14] Okay.

Drew:
[00:32:17 - 00:32:20] I will probably talk about Spider-Man over Watch Spider-Man.
[00:32:20 - 00:32:21] In general.
[00:32:21 - 00:32:22] Yeah, I think that's great.
[00:32:22 - 00:32:26] If it's not a Spider-Man conversation, I'm watching Brand New Day.

Grant:
[00:32:26 - 00:32:28] Okay. I have a follow-up question for you.
[00:32:29 - 00:32:30] You are at this party.
[00:32:31 - 00:32:33] No Spider-Man movie is on the TV.
[00:32:33 - 00:32:34] The party is ending and they're all like,
[00:32:34 - 00:32:37] hey, since this is a Spider-Man themed birthday party,
[00:32:37 - 00:32:38] let's watch a Spider-Man movie.
[00:32:38 - 00:32:41] Drew, our resident Spider-Man and film expert,
[00:32:42 - 00:32:44] you pick a movie, a Spider-Man movie.
[00:32:44 - 00:32:46] See, this is harder than most people think.
[00:32:46 - 00:32:46] I know.
[00:32:46 - 00:32:48] Are you picking Brand New Day
[00:32:48 - 00:32:50] or are you picking another Spider-Man movie?
[00:32:50 - 00:32:51] And if so, which is it?
[00:32:51 - 00:32:53] I feel like, A, you have to gauge the audience.
[00:32:53 - 00:32:54] Yes.

Drew:
[00:32:54 - 00:32:55] Are they ready for the Raimi cheese?
[00:32:56 - 00:32:57] The answer is probably not.
[00:32:57 - 00:32:59] That's a fair point.
[00:32:59 - 00:33:00] You got to kind of ease into the Raimi-verse.

Grant:
[00:33:00 - 00:33:01] Yeah, you do.

Drew:
[00:33:01 - 00:33:03] It kind of has to be a scheduled thing
[00:33:03 - 00:33:06] where you're like, I'm buckled in for some horrible dialogue.

Grant:
[00:33:06 - 00:33:08] It's kind of like the prequels for Star Wars.
[00:33:08 - 00:33:08] Right.
[00:33:08 - 00:33:08] It is.

Drew:
[00:33:09 - 00:33:12] The Homecoming trilogy, way more palatable.

Grant:
[00:33:12 - 00:33:14] I think Homecoming would be a great entry point.
[00:33:14 - 00:33:15] That or TASM 1.
[00:33:15 - 00:33:15] I agree.
[00:33:15 - 00:33:18] But these are people who've seen Spider-Man before.
[00:33:18 - 00:33:19] It's a Spider-Man party.

Drew:
[00:33:19 - 00:33:21] I might honestly suggest Brand New Day.
[00:33:21 - 00:33:22] I think it's the best of every world.
[00:33:22 - 00:33:23] It's the best of all worlds here.
[00:33:23 - 00:33:24] Wow.

Grant:
[00:33:25 - 00:33:25] Wow.
[00:33:25 - 00:33:26] Yeah.
[00:33:26 - 00:33:27] I didn't know you'd land on that.
[00:33:27 - 00:33:28] I didn't think I would either.
[00:33:28 - 00:33:28] But here we are.
[00:33:28 - 00:33:29] That's kind of awesome.
[00:33:29 - 00:33:30] Yeah, I agree.
[00:33:30 - 00:33:31] That's kind of, one could say amazing.
[00:33:31 - 00:33:34] Some might say, I don't know where I'm going with that.
[00:33:34 - 00:33:35] Yeah.
[00:33:36 - 00:33:37] Okay.
[00:33:37 - 00:33:39] Thanks for listening to our conversation about that.
[00:33:41 - 00:33:43] Anything else you want to say about Brand New Day?

Drew:
[00:33:43 - 00:33:43] It's great.
[00:33:43 - 00:33:45] If you haven't seen it and you made it this far,
[00:33:45 - 00:33:46] while we split everything.
[00:33:46 - 00:33:47] Hey, so sorry.
[00:33:47 - 00:33:48] B, go see it again.
[00:33:48 - 00:33:48] Go see it again.

Grant:
[00:33:49 - 00:33:49] Do it.
[00:33:50 - 00:33:50] Really quick, actually.
[00:33:50 - 00:33:53] One other, like I had, we didn't really talk about this.
[00:33:53 - 00:33:56] There's not like a CGI fight at the end of the movie.
[00:33:56 - 00:34:00] Like this was a little bit more of emotional stuff.
[00:34:00 - 00:34:02] Like the third act wasn't as much CGI fight.
[00:34:02 - 00:34:06] Now there was some, but like, I would say this movie looks
[00:34:06 - 00:34:08] pretty good and does some interesting things visually.

Drew:
[00:34:08 - 00:34:10] I think two things.
[00:34:10 - 00:34:12] One, this moment's very on the nose.
[00:34:12 - 00:34:13] I don't care.
[00:34:13 - 00:34:16] When he's fighting the hand and Jean Grey's like,
[00:34:16 - 00:34:18] are you Peter Parker or are you Spider-Man?
[00:34:18 - 00:34:19] And he says both.
[00:34:19 - 00:34:20] Coldest line.
[00:34:20 - 00:34:20] So sick.

Grant:
[00:34:21 - 00:34:22] I'm all here for it.
[00:34:22 - 00:34:24] That is probably the cheesiest line in the movie.
[00:34:24 - 00:34:24] I don't care.
[00:34:25 - 00:34:26] But it's a good character moment.
[00:34:26 - 00:34:27] It's great.
[00:34:27 - 00:34:27] Yeah.
[00:34:27 - 00:34:28] It's a great character moment.
[00:34:29 - 00:34:32] I think too, like the scene where Jean Grey is like about
[00:34:32 - 00:34:33] to kill Mr.
[00:34:34 - 00:34:35] Mr. Milchak.
[00:34:35 - 00:34:36] Milchak, Metzger, whatever we call them.
[00:34:38 - 00:34:41] But when she has like the glass up to his face
[00:34:41 - 00:34:43] and all that tension is playing out.
[00:34:43 - 00:34:46] Like I think that is a more impactful third act
[00:34:46 - 00:34:49] that I left the movie thinking about that a little bit more
[00:34:49 - 00:34:51] than like the CGI fight at the end of Black Panther.
[00:34:51 - 00:34:52] So yeah, I agree.
[00:34:53 - 00:34:54] That's my thoughts there.
[00:34:54 - 00:34:56] That was the last thought I had.
[00:34:56 - 00:34:56] Yep.
[00:34:56 - 00:34:57] What do we have coming up next?

Drew:
[00:34:57 - 00:34:58] All right guys.
[00:34:59 - 00:35:01] We are finally done with our Spider-Man marathon.
[00:35:01 - 00:35:02] So if you're just now discovering us,
[00:35:02 - 00:35:04] we've talked about every live action Spider-Man movie.

Grant:
[00:35:04 - 00:35:05] Yes, we have.

Drew:
[00:35:05 - 00:35:06] And it's been fun.
[00:35:06 - 00:35:06] It's been great.
[00:35:06 - 00:35:08] That's where we came up with that ranking that you saw.

Grant:
[00:35:08 - 00:35:09] Yep.

Drew:
[00:35:09 - 00:35:10] We are doing House of the Dragon.
[00:35:11 - 00:35:13] We have Lanterns in August, which looks pretty good.
[00:35:13 - 00:35:14] Does look pretty good.
[00:35:14 - 00:35:15] Pretty excited.
[00:35:15 - 00:35:18] We have a bunch of artsy movies around the corner.
[00:35:18 - 00:35:19] We got Social Reckoning.
[00:35:19 - 00:35:20] We have Fjord.
[00:35:20 - 00:35:21] I play Rocky.
[00:35:21 - 00:35:22] I play Rocky.
[00:35:22 - 00:35:24] We have Bourdain.
[00:35:25 - 00:35:26] A bunch of other stuff that's coming out.

Grant:
[00:35:26 - 00:35:27] I think it's Tony, but yes.

Drew:
[00:35:27 - 00:35:28] Okay.

Grant:
[00:35:28 - 00:35:29] It's Anthony Bourdain movie.
[00:35:29 - 00:35:30] Yes.

Drew:
[00:35:30 - 00:35:32] We have Dune, Doomsday obviously.

Grant:
[00:35:32 - 00:35:34] We have one else.
[00:35:34 - 00:35:37] There's one more important thing that we haven't talked
[00:35:37 - 00:35:39] about at all on this podcast which we should have
[00:35:39 - 00:35:40] talked about.
[00:35:40 - 00:35:41] Oh, I don't know what this is.
[00:35:41 - 00:35:44] We have Spider-Man Hot Takes coming up next week.
[00:35:44 - 00:35:45] Why didn't we say that?
[00:35:45 - 00:35:46] We're not really done with Spider-Man.
[00:35:46 - 00:35:46] No, we're not.
[00:35:46 - 00:35:46] I know.
[00:35:46 - 00:35:47] We should have said that earlier.
[00:35:47 - 00:35:48] Yeah, we should have said that.
[00:35:48 - 00:35:49] We have enough Hot Takes.
[00:35:49 - 00:35:51] But if you have a Spider-Man Hot Takes, send it in.
[00:35:51 - 00:35:51] We might get to it.
[00:35:51 - 00:35:52] Yep.
[00:35:52 - 00:35:53] We're going to record some episodes
[00:35:53 - 00:35:56] about that potentially coming up next week.
[00:35:56 - 00:35:57] So, if you like Spider-Man, we're still going
[00:35:57 - 00:35:58] to talk about Spider-Man.
[00:35:58 - 00:35:59] True.
[00:35:59 - 00:36:00] All things Spider-Man.
[00:36:00 - 00:36:02] So, hit that subscribe button.
[00:36:02 - 00:36:02] Anything else you want to add?

Drew:
[00:36:03 - 00:36:04] I think so.

Grant:
[00:36:04 - 00:36:04] Take a break.
[00:36:04 - 00:36:06] And with great power comes great responsibility.
[00:36:06 - 00:36:08] I almost said it again.
[00:36:08 - 00:36:08] Enjoy a film.
