[00:00:00] Drew:
Like from a filmmaking perspective and a dialogue perspective, Raimi 3 is horrible.
[00:00:04] Grant:
I also think it's storytelling perspective, but whatever.
[00:00:06] Drew:
It is bad, but I still think the Spider-Man arc that Peter goes on is good.
[00:00:06] Grant:
It is pretty non-existent.
[00:00:11] Drew:
As opposed to Far From Home, the Peter Parker arc is stupid. The character assassination is crazy.
[00:00:17] Grant:
Yeah.
[00:00:19] Drew:
He gives him Mysterio's glasses. Why? Like, just Nick Fury is here. It's like this movie, from a Spider-Man perspective,
[00:00:23] Grant:
The wait is finally over.
[00:00:26] Drew:
is character regression at best. And I'm Drew.
[00:00:42] Grant:
Welcome back to Stole My Line, a fireside film podcast. I'm Grant. We're talking about Spider-Man Hot Takes! We're here.
[00:00:47] Drew:
The moment you've all been waiting for.
[00:00:48] Grant:
Uh, really quick.
[00:00:49] Drew:
Okay.
[00:00:50] Grant:
We have a hit Star Wars Hot Takes podcast series that's on our channel.
[00:00:50] Drew:
Yep.
[00:00:54] Grant:
So if you were like,
[00:00:55] Drew:
Okay, this is good.
[00:00:56] Grant:
hey, I'm not into Spider-Man, but I'm into Star Wars. We got you. But since this is an established series, drew really quick. Run the new viewers down on like, what is our format? What do we do here on Hot Takes?
[00:01:09] Drew:
So, you have sent in hot takes. We have received them.
[00:01:12] Grant:
Yes. Yes.
[00:01:13] Drew:
We have read them.
[00:01:14] Grant:
We've copied and pasted them.
[00:01:16] Drew:
We've gotten past them into a notes app.
[00:01:16] Grant:
Yep.
[00:01:18] Drew:
We're not really going in any order.
[00:01:18] Grant:
No.
[00:01:20] Drew:
Um, yeah.
[00:01:20] Grant:
It is what sticks out to us.
[00:01:22] Drew:
So, it just kind of depends. Um, we'll try to get to all of them. Y'all have sent in a ton.
[00:01:26] Grant:
We will not get to all of them. Yes.
[00:01:28] Drew:
So, we apologize if we don't.
[00:01:29] Grant:
Yeah.
[00:01:30] Drew:
There will be more episodes down the line. This will not be the only one.
[00:01:32] Grant:
I think two might be actually really around the corner very soon.
[00:01:33] Drew:
It's true. Um, yeah.
[00:01:37] Grant:
So.
[00:01:38] Drew:
So, we will either agree or disagree with your take. And then we will rate it on the hotness scale.
[00:01:44] Grant:
Which, those things don't have to like, always line up. We can disagree with the take and it can be very hot. We can agree it can be very hot. We can agree it can be very cold take. So we'll kind of mix and match there for sure.
[00:01:55] Drew:
Drew. And our hotness scale is as follows. We kind of have the same graphic as our ranking.
[00:01:59] Grant:
Yes. Yep.
[00:02:02] Drew:
But we have raging fire, which is the hottest of the hot.
[00:02:04] Grant:
Mm-hmm.
[00:02:05] Drew:
We have enough for s'mores, which is like, you can cook.
[00:02:05] Grant:
Yep.
[00:02:07] Drew:
You can cook something on that.
[00:02:07] Grant:
Yep.
[00:02:09] Drew:
We have some smoke.
[00:02:09] Grant:
Yes.
[00:02:10] Drew:
We have only embers. And then we have wet logs. And this is just kind of determining full throttle.
[00:02:13] Grant:
Hotness.
[00:02:16] Drew:
Yeah, it's completely subjective.
[00:02:18] Grant:
But really based on our view. So. Yes.
[00:02:22] Drew:
Welcome to this podcast.
[00:02:23] Grant:
Um, I have a hot take to start us out.
[00:02:24] Drew:
All right. Yep.
[00:02:28] Grant:
I'm very, here's what you think. So we've also, this is probably going to apply primarily to Live Action Spider-Man, by the way. Because we did a whole marathon on that and watched Brand New Day. So if you're into all that, that's on our channel too. I have a hot take regarding the MCU Peter Parker Spider-Man. Are you ready?
[00:02:45] Drew:
Yep.
[00:02:46] Grant:
The MCU. If the MCU made one change to Peter's storyline, he'd be considered the best Spider-Man and Peter Parker. And the homecoming trilogy would have been significantly better. Are you ready to hear the one change?
[00:02:58] Drew:
Agreed.
[00:03:00] Grant:
Now, this takes place not in a Spider-Man movie. So we're talking about also all spoilers. We're going to spoil everything. In the homecoming trilogy, we don't really get Uncle Ben's death at all. It doesn't really happen until Aunt May's death in No Way Home, which is where you get the line, with great power comes great responsibility or like the MCU version of that. And that's kind of the Uncle Ben death for this Peter. By the way, I think Brand New Day is very good and ties into those things well and everything.
[00:03:29] Drew:
Oh my gosh.
[00:03:29] Grant:
Well, here's the thing.
[00:03:30] Drew:
I love it.
[00:03:31] Grant:
Uncle Ben in the MCU is not Aunt May, in my opinion. It's Tony Stark. And Tony Stark dies in front of Peter in Endgame. So here's the change I would have like to have been made. In Endgame, we get a little bit of that moment of the like Peter, Peter feels responsible for Tony's death in some way,
[00:03:49] Drew:
I love it.
[00:03:51] Grant:
but it has been rewritten a little bit. And I know this is like, it's not really about Peter in this moment, but I think this could have been a very good moment. And then Tony gives him the line with great power comes great responsibility. And then you completely rework Far From Home, and he has that imbued on him now instead of a movie later. That's my take.
[00:04:12] Drew:
100%.
[00:04:12] Grant:
Is that a hot take?
[00:04:13] Drew:
Yeah.
[00:04:14] Grant:
I think it, I guess my take is like,
[00:04:14] Drew:
I think this is, I think that's great.
[00:04:16] Grant:
that would have been significantly better than what we got, even though even though what we got was good. Oh really?
[00:04:21] Drew:
Yeah. All right. It could be contentious because it might take away from
[00:04:24] Grant:
I wonder what people think of that.
[00:04:27] Drew:
Iron Man's death a little bit. And like from the audience perspective, like obviously we
[00:04:30] Grant:
Yeah, that's true.
[00:04:31] Drew:
know what that's doing. It's like Tony's death is less impactful. But also, I think in context, it's not because Tony cares for Peter a lot. Like felt super guilty at the beginning of Endgame for his death. Exactly. Like, I think that makes sense.
[00:04:44] Grant:
Yeah, like there's a picture of him and Peter.
[00:04:46] Drew:
I love that idea.
[00:04:46] Grant:
Yeah, like it's yeah.
[00:04:47] Drew:
We kind of do. Yeah.
[00:04:49] Grant:
I think it would have just been really interesting because yeah,
[00:04:49] Drew:
Yeah.
[00:04:51] Grant:
we don't get that normal Uncle Ben origin story, but like to two Peter Uncle Ben is Tony.
[00:04:55] Drew:
Yeah. Yeah. That's great.
[00:04:58] Grant:
So I don't know.
[00:05:00] Drew:
Yeah.
[00:05:01] Grant:
And I think it would have held with Far From Home feeling
[00:05:01] Drew:
Yep.
[00:05:03] Grant:
just like a random bridge movie where nothing really happens. Like we could have really got into the meat of who Peter is as a character in that movie that we kind of just goof around
[00:05:10] Drew:
I think it's great.
[00:05:12] Grant:
and there's some good Mysterio stuff in there.
[00:05:15] Drew:
Hotness scale.
[00:05:15] Grant:
So I don't know that's my thoughts.
[00:05:16] Drew:
I don't know. Maybe enough for s'mores.
[00:05:18] Grant:
I like that.
[00:05:21] Drew:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:05:23] Grant:
I'm the first Morse. I'm okay with that.
[00:05:24] Drew:
Yeah.
[00:05:26] Grant:
All right.
[00:05:26] Drew:
Yeah.
[00:05:27] Grant:
It's your turn. Do you have a hot take for us?
[00:05:29] Drew:
I do.
[00:05:29] Grant:
We'll still talk about it.
[00:05:30] Drew:
But everyone's heard it before. And basically it's just the homecoming trilogy sucks. And it's terrible. As a unit of storytelling as a whole is pretty bad.
[00:05:40] Grant:
Sucks? Feels like a reach to me. What would you say about the Star Wars prequel trilogy? Would you say it sucks?
[00:05:52] Drew:
I would say the storytelling there is much better. I think the execution is worse. The storytelling here is bad. The execution is fine. I think the prequels are better because the story on
[00:05:59] Grant:
So they're about the same.
[00:06:05] Drew:
the skeleton of the story is more compelling. I agree.
[00:06:08] Grant:
Yeah, that's fair. I think honestly, homecoming is very good in my opinion. I like homecoming a lot. I think No Way Home is solid for what it is. You have to take into account the Spider-Man universe, the MCU, all the things. I think I have issues with No Way Home. I think Doctor Strange is a stupid character in that movie. Far from home is the weak link.
[00:06:24] Drew:
Maybe.
[00:06:26] Grant:
And if far from home was better, I don't think this would even be a conversation. I just don't.
[00:06:32] Drew:
Part of it was bad. No way home. I actually like knowing him more. See but like I think the years are all fine movies.
[00:06:41] Grant:
I know.
[00:06:46] Drew:
They're all entertaining. And I said this all. But I don't think they really do a lot with the character of Peter Parker and his unique characteristics as much as they should. And that's my biggest problem.
[00:06:59] Grant:
Okay.
[00:06:59] Drew:
Okay.
[00:07:00] Grant:
All right, I'm going to go ahead and say I agree with your take. And here's why.
[00:07:03] Drew:
Right.
[00:07:04] Grant:
It's because I think if you, like, stripped down the homecoming trilogy to its bare bones, what occurs in that story is what occurs in like the first,
[00:07:09] Drew:
Sure.
[00:07:12] Grant:
what, 30, 45 minutes of Raimi one with some meandering through this whole Iron Man stuff, which is why I think it should have been rewritten, but whatever. I'm going to agree that the story kind of meanders if we're looking at the whole trilogy as a story. I still think there's quality film, quality moments in there.
[00:07:30] Drew:
Yup.
[00:07:31] Grant:
I think homecoming is a good film. I'm going to say on a hotness scale though, this is a pretty cold take nowadays. I mean, I feel like a lot of people,
[00:07:38] Drew:
Because everyone says it. There's some homecoming defenders. I don't know.
[00:07:42] Grant:
maybe I'm wrong.
[00:07:43] Drew:
I think you're probably right.
[00:07:43] Grant:
I think as a trilogy though,
[00:07:45] Drew:
Okay.
[00:07:46] Grant:
I'm going to say this is only embers.
[00:07:48] Drew:
All right.
[00:07:49] Grant:
Okay.
[00:07:50] Drew:
Okay.
[00:07:50] Grant:
I still think it's a good take though.
[00:07:52] Drew:
It would be my honor.
[00:07:53] Grant:
All right. You want to pick the first one?
[00:07:59] Drew:
We're going to go. I'm just we're so random right now. Okay.
[00:08:03] Grant:
Go for it.
[00:08:05] Drew:
Oh this is from sherinxo. All right.
[00:08:09] Grant:
Oh, sherinxo.
[00:08:12] Drew:
All right. My Spider-Man hot take is that the amazing Spider-Man movies are overhated. Are they perfect? No. But there is a lot of good in them and people that people disregard. Andrew plays Spider-Man really well. And he and Gwen Stacy have the best romance out of all the Spider-Man movies yet. I 100% agree with basically everything you just said.
[00:08:28] Grant:
Hard to agree. We actually were pretty high on the TASM movies
[00:08:31] Drew:
Yeah.
[00:08:33] Grant:
when we did our rewatch. If you watch that, you viewer. So I think there's some really bad in them. And some of them are like a product of the
[00:08:40] Drew:
Trying to be the.
[00:08:43] Grant:
self-serious, pretty, kind of Nolan byproduct, a little bit when we had the Dark Knight trilogy,
[00:08:48] Drew:
I agree.
[00:08:50] Grant:
and then also Iron Man, kind of had some seriousness going on too. These came out shortly after that. And so you kind of feel that in these movies a little bit. But at the same time, I think TASM 1's a pretty good movie, and the high points of TASM 2 are very good.
[00:09:04] Drew:
The high points of 2002.
[00:09:05] Grant:
So, yes.
[00:09:06] Drew:
Are very. Now the story is pretty bad. But it's pretty.
[00:09:11] Grant:
The plot is pretty terrible.
[00:09:12] Drew:
Yeah. So.
[00:09:13] Grant:
But like, I don't think TASM 2's the worst Spider-Man movie. I don't...
[00:09:16] Drew:
No.
[00:09:17] Grant:
It's probably the third worst. I think Raimi 3 and Far From Home are probably worse.
[00:09:22] Drew:
I agree.
[00:09:22] Grant:
Which I don't think I would have said a few weeks ago.
[00:09:23] Drew:
And honestly. I really like to have him to just from like a purely entertainment. Perspective. You have you have been on the tooth fusion for years.
[00:09:31] Grant:
The Tooth Fusion is really stupid still. The Tooth Fusion is dumb.
[00:09:35] Drew:
It is dumb. It's stupid.
[00:09:36] Grant:
It's so dumb.
[00:09:37] Drew:
But like that's two seconds in the movie.
[00:09:37] Grant:
It's a dumb two seconds.
[00:09:39] Drew:
I think there are a lot of tasks and lovers.
[00:09:41] Grant:
I hard agree with this take. How hot is this take now?
[00:09:47] Drew:
I'm going to say.
[00:09:50] Grant:
Well, here's the thing.
[00:09:51] Drew:
Okay.
[00:09:51] Grant:
I see a lot of hate videos on TASM 2 still.
[00:09:54] Drew:
Maybe maybe it's not.
[00:09:54] Grant:
I've looked at a lot of Spider-Man making lists in TASM 2 at the bottom.
[00:09:56] Drew:
Enough for smoke.
[00:09:58] Grant:
You do that every episode.
[00:09:59] Drew:
I do that every day. Enough for s'mores.
[00:10:02] Grant:
Enough for s'mores.
[00:10:03] Drew:
Okay.
[00:10:04] Grant:
Yeah, I'm fine with that. I think this is a hot-ish take.
[00:10:05] Drew:
Thank you, sherinxo, for sending that in.
[00:10:07] Grant:
I don't think it's the hottest take. Okay.
[00:10:12] Drew:
We appreciate you. You've been here for a while though.
[00:10:15] Grant:
I'm going to shout out my cousin who is kind of at this point the hot takes are regular.
[00:10:19] Drew:
He does. He pops up a lot here.
[00:10:20] Grant:
But he texted me the other night.
[00:10:21] Drew:
Far from home is the worst part of the movie.
[00:10:22] Grant:
I was like, I have to say this on the podcast. So, this is from Austin Crenshaw. He says, Far From Home is not the worst Spider-Man movie. He says, I'm with you all about Spider-Man 3. Loki, he doesn't like the Raimi cheese, and 3 is the worst of it. And then he says, can't wait to see this get torn apart. Okay.
[00:10:42] Drew:
And you.
[00:10:43] Grant:
We had a mutual agreement so we could both get what we wanted.
[00:10:43] Drew:
We switched it on brand new day.
[00:10:47] Grant:
My personal opinion is that Raimi 3 is the worst Spider-Man movie.
[00:10:48] Drew:
Okay.
[00:10:51] Grant:
But, I mean, he and I were texting something.
[00:10:51] Drew:
Okay.
[00:10:57] Grant:
Mysterio is a fun villain to watch. A fun Jake Gyllenhaal performance.
[00:11:00] Drew:
Okay.
[00:11:02] Grant:
I would say, despite your title of our YouTube video, Far From Home isn't offensive. Like, it's just like, if you're a die-hard Spider-Man fan,
[00:11:08] Drew:
But I think it kind of is.
[00:11:13] Grant:
Spider-Man fan. Spider-Man?
[00:11:15] Drew:
Sure.
[00:11:15] Grant:
Sure. Spider-Man, maybe.
[00:11:16] Drew:
Spider fan.
[00:11:17] Grant:
It's offensive, but I just don't... It feels like a nothing burger when you watch it. Whereas Raimi 3, I feel like is offensive. You watch Raimi 3 and you're like,
[00:11:25] Drew:
Right.
[00:11:26] Grant:
this is offensive to all things Spider-Man ever.
[00:11:26] Drew:
Me three.
[00:11:28] Grant:
Okay.
[00:11:29] Drew:
I think. Here is what. Okay. Here is. Here is my comparison that I will draw you.
[00:11:34] Grant:
Draw it.
[00:11:36] Drew:
How about. No way. No way. No way. I am more of a Spider-Man fan. You are more of a movie fan in general. All right.
[00:11:48] Grant:
Yeah.
[00:11:49] Drew:
We both love movies obviously but like.
[00:11:49] Grant:
Sure.
[00:11:51] Drew:
I like spider-man more than he does that's like a character. So.
[00:11:54] Grant:
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:11:56] Drew:
Like from a filmmaking perspective and a dialogue perspective. Raimi 3 is horrible.
[00:12:01] Grant:
Mostly a storytelling perspective, but whatever. It is pretty non-existent.
[00:12:04] Drew:
It is bad. But I still think the Spider-Man arc that Peter goes on is good. from home. The Peter Parker arc is stupid. The character assassination is crazy. He gives
[00:12:14] Grant:
Yeah.
[00:12:15] Drew:
me Mysterio's glasses. Why? Like it just Nick furious here. It's like what this movie
[00:12:19] Grant:
Yeah, I mean, okay.
[00:12:21] Drew:
from a spider respective is character regression at best. But from a filmmaking perspective and a narrative, it's fine. It's very entertaining. I disagree. Right. And that's right. I think
[00:12:32] Grant:
I'm going to say I agree with you, Austin. I think you'll... But I think, like, I am agreeing as a movie fan more than a Spider-Man fan. So it's kind of just like, pick your poison on that. Like, which one are you going to hate more?
[00:12:46] Drew:
Spider-Man three has some moments of of of bad. Yeah. I feel like a lot of people don't love
[00:12:48] Grant:
But I think your take has some justification. Because the Raimi 3 is really bad. It's like, very bad. Um, are you feeling a little hot in this scale for this one? I don't know. Yeah.
[00:13:05] Drew:
I'm gonna say some stuff. Yeah. Thank you. Awesome for your take. All right. We are going to go with
[00:13:09] Grant:
Because I think a lot of people also do sight far from home as the worst Spider-Man movie. And some Spider-Man fans would say, that's a hot take. I like that. I like the reasoning. Okay.
[00:13:22] Drew:
thebirdcatcher1. Spider-Man I take as a movie only guy learning that other Spider-Man
[00:13:24] Grant:
That's an interesting take.
[00:13:30] Drew:
manufacture their web is emergent breaking. The added logistics of that are less believable than radioactive. So are you saying that like you watch Ray me as a whole and you're like,
[00:13:39] Grant:
I've never really heard this. I just think, like, that's not a crazy leap.
[00:13:46] Drew:
OK, Peter has natural webs. That's fine. And then when Andrew Garfield's making his own webs, you're like, I don't buy that. Yeah. And I mean, Peter Parker is supposed to be like this genius
[00:13:57] Grant:
Because Doc Ock creates fusion. And then, like, like nuclear fusion, a literal sun in the middle, like a small sun. And then he just, like, fizzles it out in the river. Like, I feel like if there's some immersion breaking with science, it's not the webs that really get on the back burner.
[00:14:17] Drew:
kid, at least for the comic book, like him making his own webs. Also, I think he made his own webs in the comics too. I mean, again, this is the MCU. You kind of just got to let science be like hold it a little loosely. So I think it's fine for me, but I can understand.
[00:14:32] Grant:
Yeah. I see where you're coming from, for sure. Like, I think Raimi does a job, at least in the first one, a better job of leaning into the, like, more mystical, fantastical.
[00:14:45] Drew:
Yeah, no, I agree. I agree. Yeah. No, I think I agree. Yeah, I think I disagree too. I'm going
[00:14:46] Grant:
The Green Goblin is, like, this kind of demon that possesses Willem Dafoe. A little, I don't know. I'm reaching a little bit. I see where you're coming from, though. I'm going to say I disagree, though, with your take. I don't think it's immersion breaking for me. I think there's other stuff that is more, maybe immersion breaking. How do you feel I'm on a scale?
[00:15:08] Drew:
to say some smoke. Oh, that out to my confession. I yeah, I think it is. I completely agree.
[00:15:11] Grant:
I like that. That was easy. Quick, quick little hot take there. Alright. Okay. This is from micahfisher6125, by the way. And he's sent in multiple takes, but there's one on one to talk about. I hate, uh, he says, the hate that Kirsten Dunst's, wow, I'm smoking the eyes right now, that Kirsten Dunst's MJ gets is unwarranted and overblown. I think she responds in mostly understandable and realistic ways to the situations that she has put in. Now, is she a comic accurate MJ? No, not necessarily, but she's not a bad character by any means. So, he's addressing the iconic Raimi trilogy, MJ Hate. But I think it's, like, its own entity at this point. With micahfisher6125.
[00:16:00] Drew:
100%. I actually really yeah, I really liked watching MJ as a character, basically the whole trilogy. Yeah, I think I disagree here too, because I could I like my chronology. Is that
[00:16:09] Grant:
I think there's, like, one thing, we had some comments about it, too. MJ hops between Harry and Peter and then this guy she's engaged to and, like, she's not the most loyal person of all time. Which I think is, I don't know. Yeah.
[00:16:32] Drew:
the word? It could be wrong here because we've watched a lot of Spider-Man content in the last
[00:16:33] Grant:
We have. No, no.
[00:16:37] Drew:
two weeks. But doesn't she start off dating Harry and Ray me too. Or like it's revealed. No, it's
[00:16:44] Grant:
She dates Harry and Raimi 1, I think.
[00:16:44] Drew:
each Ray me one. Right. And then I think great. And right. I think that's fine.
[00:16:47] Grant:
Or is, like, kind of, like, in between Peter and Harry, and then she chooses Peter and Peter's, like, no, goodbye. Which is a good moment. That she's dating J.K. Simmons, uh, his son. And so, now, okay, well, here's two moments
[00:17:04] Drew:
None of that is screams. The girl who likes to hop around. Okay. Okay. But also,
[00:17:09] Grant:
that I want to, we've got to talk about. One, he leaves, or she leaves J. Jonah Jameson's son on the altar. Yeah, okay. I see where you're coming from. That really sucks. Yeah.
[00:17:22] Drew:
again, like it's been established that MJ has had a crush on Peter Parker for two and a half movies of this or one and a half movies to this point. And then she is revealed that like Peter Parker is also Spider-Man and everything makes sense. And that's why it's not like Peter Parker didn't love her. You're getting smoked crazy this episode. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That is true. I kind of forgot.
[00:17:43] Grant:
Yeah, that's true. I think, oh, yeah, I'm, like, crying right now. Um, the other thing, I don't know. I mean, it's kind of like the notebook, I think I've referenced this before, but, like, hey, they were engaged and he was a good dude. Like, if you're in that dude's shoes, that really sucks. You got to feel for that guy, too. Um, she, like, goes and kisses Harry and, like, kind of gets with him in Spider-Man 3. You know, here's the thing. I think right before this, they kind of had, like, a breakup thing. Like, a little bit. Like, they had that dinner and she was like, you aren't even paying attention to me right now. You're, like, on top of the world at Spider-Man.
[00:18:22] Drew:
Yeah. And you're kissing other girls. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm a I'm an MJ defender. I do. I do get it.
[00:18:24] Grant:
And then I think he, and he kisses Gwen Stacy. So, like, I'm not saying it's the best move of all time, but it's not like Peter has done nothing to her and she does that. So, I think that one makes a little more sense to me than leaving J. Jonah Jameson's son on the altar. I, yeah.
[00:18:42] Drew:
I understand. But I think it is great. I feel like it is. I feel like a lot of people don't
[00:18:44] Grant:
I think it's overblown. I think overblown, it's a fair take, Micah. I agree. Hot in a scale. It's got to be hot, right? This has got to be enough or more.
[00:18:53] Drew:
like I agree. Yeah. We are going to go with PapaGlucose. Oh, wow. You sent in three.
[00:18:54] Grant:
I think that's a great place for that. All right. Great take, micahfisher6125. Thank you for sending that in. No, the goat. Crazy.
[00:19:11] Drew:
Let's pick just Spider-Man. I take I've never liked Tommy require as Spider-Man. So shut up. As a kid I always was put off by the Doe baby was face. That's a direct quote makes the whole thing too goofy for me. I love the camp of the rain movies. But I just have never been able to enjoy Toby. He was always a dork and he was usually and he was usually a pretty handsome dude. Toby's better with the mask on. Andrew and Tom got the
[00:19:40] Grant:
Peter Parker.
[00:19:42] Drew:
look right. I think look as in like Spider-Man suit or Peter Parker. Yeah. I do enjoy watching
[00:19:46] Grant:
I mean, Peter Parker. Um, I mean, I hate commenting on people's appearance, but from, like, an acting standpoint, I don't really love Toby. Like, actually. I think he's in the best-written movies, like Spider-Man 1 and 2, specifically 2. Like, he has the added benefit of being in a decent movie. But I don't ever watch Toby, and I'm like, I enjoy watching Toby McGuire on screen, so I don't even hate this take. Yeah, 100%.
[00:20:14] Drew:
Toby require. But also if we're talking purely performance I think he is the weakest of Yeah. So I think it's hard to remove nostalgia and the fact that I like these movies. But
[00:20:23] Grant:
I don't think it's close. Especially after a brand new day, like, Tom Holland's doing a really good job right now. How hot is this take?
[00:20:35] Drew:
I think I disagree. But also I'd I agree. But I do like I feel like a lot of people say this
[00:20:44] Grant:
This can't be that hot of a take, right? Only embers?
[00:20:49] Drew:
some smoke only smoke and I'm blending them on purpose this time. Oh, your brother has a good
[00:20:50] Grant:
Only embers? Is this a cult? Okay. We'll make a blended graphic for that only smoke. All right. It's my pick. Give me one second. I'll do his in a little bit.
[00:21:05] Drew:
tape. We don't get that. 100 percent agree. It's so good. It's so good. No. It's so that theme song.
[00:21:07] Grant:
Okay. This is from limberlad. limberlad sent in two takes, and I want to talk about both of them. Because the first one, I think, is a pretty quick one. We might not even rate this one. limberlad says, here's my lukewarm Spider-Man hot take. Spider-Man Noir, or Spider-Noir, on Amazon Prime, is by far the best piece of live-action Spider-Man media we've gotten since Raimi Spider-Man 2. Hard to agree. I think now he sent this in before the brand new day came out. So here's a quick question. Do we think Spider-Noir is better than brand new day? I'm okay with agreeing, yeah. I think that's fine. I think, like, you have to accept it for what it is. It's a genre thing, but it is so good. And I don't think enough people have seen it. Like, it's very good. So I'm going to agree. Oh, it's banging. Black and white.
[00:21:58] Drew:
Holy moly. Good. It's so good. Oh my gosh. I want to rewatch it right now. This is a
[00:22:00] Grant:
Nick Cage? It's just great. Britton Gleason? It's awesome. The characters are so well-written in that show. It's so good. Yeah, yeah. They play into the Noir thing amazingly. Okay. Let's hop to a second take. We agree with that. You should go watch Spider-Noir. He says, also, this might be a bonus scorcher take. The only decent Spider-Man movie is the first one. And No Way Home. And, comma, No Way Home is a straight-up bad movie that was overly elevated by fanservice. There's some hyperbole here. This is a scorcher.
[00:22:37] Drew:
a scorcher take. Yeah. You this is crazy. The only decent spider you wouldn't even say
[00:22:39] Grant:
Spider-Man 2 is better than Spider-Man 1. I just don't agree that Spider-Man 1 is the only good Spider-Man movie. I mean, I would say, compared to Spider-Man 2,
[00:22:53] Drew:
part of it was good. You're qualifying it as decent. The only decent movie.
[00:22:59] Grant:
Spider-Man 1 is decent. But saying that it is the only decent one and it is better than 2, that's where we get into crazy territory.
[00:23:06] Drew:
Yeah, I agree. I completely disagree with this. I even think as a one is good. I think I think
[00:23:06] Grant:
Because Spider-Man 2 is very good.
[00:23:15] Drew:
homecoming is decent. I think no one was also decent. Yeah, I agree. I disagree. I kind of do
[00:23:16] Grant:
I think Hong Kong is good. I think, again, send this in before Brand New Day, but I think Brand New Day is very good. So... I disagree. No Way Home is a straight-up bad movie that was overly elevated by fanservice. I don't hate this take. I think No Way Home has actually pretty good Peter character moments.
[00:23:35] Drew:
actually. I think no again. I said on the last one I was I was pleasantly surprised by no way home. Yep, I agree. Doesn't rely on fanservice. Yeah. Yep. I'm not saying it's perfect. I think
[00:23:43] Grant:
Like, Peter Parker, as a character, does interesting stuff and goes through a character progression. So I can't knock the movie for doing that. Yes. It relies on you watching 5 to 7 movies before this one. So, yeah. I think the worst part of it is maybe some of the dialogue
[00:24:01] Drew:
no way home has a lot of love, but it is. It is. I would say it's at least a decent movie
[00:24:08] Grant:
between the Spider-Man, if you aren't into Spider-Man, or if you just take it as the dialogue for what it is,
[00:24:14] Drew:
as a movie. I agree. Yeah, I agree. This is a scorcher.
[00:24:15] Grant:
it's not very good. And then also Dr. Strange is just stupid in that movie. But I think it's a good movie. Like, it's a positive experience. I don't know. Disagree with that. How are we on the hottest scale for both of these? Yeah, but we're skipping that one.
[00:24:31] Drew:
See, I think a lot of people will call the first one hot when they haven't actually seen butter and bar. Oh, that's a great take. The first one is a raging fire for sure. The second one
[00:24:36] Grant:
I think that's a good take. It might be a hot take, but it's a great take. The second take. Okay.
[00:24:46] Drew:
enough for smores. We didn't. Oh, yeah, we do. Yeah. That is that's great. We need an explanation.
[00:24:48] Grant:
So, to get at least straight for our viewers, the take that Spider-Man 2 is the best Spider-Man media since Spider-Man 2... Wait. Wait, here's a... Wait, we have a continuity error here. You said that since Rainy Spider-Man 2, it's the best thing. But then the next take, you're like, Spider-Man 1 is the only decent Spider-Man movie. All right. Maybe it was mistyped. I'm going to give limberlad the benefit of the doubt. First take. We're just reading this as it was copied and pasted in. Spider-Man 2 is the best piece of Spider-Man media since Rainy Spider-Man 2. How hot is that? Isn't that first force?
[00:25:31] Drew:
Some smoke enough for smores. Okay, raising fire. No, I think I all right. My next take is
[00:25:34] Grant:
Yeah, sure. We'll say that. Spider-Man... The first Spider-Man is the only decent one. Raging Fire. And then No Way Home is a straight-up bad movie that was overly elevated by fanservice. All right. What do you think? Only Embers. I don't think that's hot of a take. Okay. All right. You pick the next one through.
[00:25:58] Drew:
from dcfridays777. They say, Spider-Man, hot take. There is no reason for any future adaptation
[00:26:02] Grant:
All right, dcfridays777 is what you got. If we're talking about pure adaptation,
[00:26:08] Drew:
of Spider-Man, be it movie, comic, TV series, etc. to be set in high school, unless directly adapting the Ditko stories beat for beat. In the comics, the only impactful thing to happen to Peter in high school is him getting bit by the spider. Uncle Ben dying and him having his first serious girlfriend and Betty Brant, which are all things we've seen done before that can happen off screen. That era of his life has been explored enough and considering all of his best stories take place, even when he's in college or entering early adulthood, we should focus more on adapting these stories. I think I agree. Yeah. Yeah. Does he does he count here in your
[00:26:43] Grant:
I completely agree. I think I overall agree with this take. I'm just like at a certain point, if we're talking about like Miles Morales and the Spider-Verse trilogy, I'm like, he's...
[00:26:57] Drew:
Spider-Man critique? Yeah, I agree. Go to TASM. Go to the new show. No, I think I completely
[00:26:58] Grant:
I guess he's probably talking only about Peter Parker, but like Miles Morales in high school is like, that's a good story that's being told right now. Even though it's not really about him being in high school, like the high school era of Miles Morales is good. But we're talking only Peter. I think I agree. Like the Homecoming trilogy did its own spin on his high school experience. Has him to two. I don't think it does anything. I mean, if somebody else wants to do a new Spider-Man that like does a new spin on his Spider-Man, or on, sorry, his high school years, I probably wouldn't even be that excited. So I think I agree. Yeah.
[00:27:36] Drew:
agree here. I think there are I agree and all the Spider-Man stories that happen in the comics are basically when he's out of so I like we're brandy days right now. I think this is solid.
[00:27:45] Grant:
Yeah. I agree.
[00:27:48] Drew:
I like that we had a four year time skip. I think that's great. Um, yeah, I completely agree.
[00:27:54] Grant:
Okay.
[00:27:54] Drew:
I don't think this is super hot day. It's interesting. Okay. Yeah, that is true. Don't
[00:27:56] Grant:
I think it's a... I haven't really heard this take before, but I think it's a good take. Only Embers. I think it's a good take. It's just not that hot. But that's okay. By the way, Embers can be like very hot. Like don't like stick your hand.
[00:28:11] Drew:
touch em first. Yeah, I am ready. Biggest edge ever. Oh, that's a great name. That's very me.
[00:28:12] Grant:
There's some heat there. Okay. I have one. Are you ready? Let me pull it up, actually. I just lost it. Well, I'm sorry. I had it pulled up and I was very excited for it. Yeah. Okay. This is from betterlatethannever4529. It is. Yeah, for real. Spider-Man hot take. MCU Ant-May is overrated as heck, which we subbed out for another word. And her only real purpose is to make hot ant jokes. This seems to be in reference to the MCU trilogy. Oh, that was my note. And... Wow, I just wrote a ton of stuff in this one. I don't think her care slash worry about Peter came off as well as the previous versions. This is a take we've kind of said on our podcast
[00:29:00] Drew:
Yeah, we have kind of said this. I agree. I think there is implied it may is deeper than she is,
[00:29:01] Grant:
and I think it's good. I think Brand New Day does a little bit of like adding some depth to that.
[00:29:09] Drew:
but shown. Not really. And no, I hope that's too. But I agree. Mercedome is just kind of
[00:29:16] Grant:
Depths. If Far From Home had taken a step further with their relationship,
[00:29:22] Drew:
hot in here. And and that's what far from home should have done dating happy. Yeah. Yep,
[00:29:26] Grant:
I would have been like, no, like she's a good ant mate, whatever. And instead, she is just like the whole joke is that she's dating and in this weird relationship with Happy the whole time. Like that's the thing. So... I agree.
[00:29:41] Drew:
believe me. I think ever I don't I don't think anyone disagreed here. It's like,
[00:29:42] Grant:
I don't have any other notes on this. Is this like a... What? Hotness kills it.
[00:29:50] Drew:
this is a wet logs. Yeah, it's very good. Oh, guy. Um, we're going to go with. Oh, wow.
[00:29:51] Grant:
I think it's a wet log's sake, but it's very good. There's like a little B. All right, buddy. All right, your turn. True.
[00:30:09] Drew:
Whoa, these are both crazy. We might do these back to back kind of they're related.
[00:30:12] Grant:
Okay.
[00:30:14] Drew:
First one's from TalonTheAmazing has him as a bad movie is the worst Spider-Man movie and is
[00:30:16] Grant:
Okay. That is just not...
[00:30:20] Drew:
worse than TASM too. Uh, well, we can talk about that one and then we'll put the next
[00:30:23] Grant:
Okay, whatever. Sorry, I keep going. It is a worse movie than TASM 1.
[00:30:29] Drew:
I think this is like, I think TASM too has some of the highest highs in the entire frame of any Spider-Man thing period. Yeah, like plot and structure and pacing through
[00:30:44] Grant:
Like if we're talking about pure movie. Now, TASM 1 doesn't do a lot that Remy 1 doesn't already do. So if you're looking at it from that perspective, like is it unnecessary? Sure, but I think TASM 1's like a fun movie. Like it's good.
[00:31:01] Drew:
him and Gwen like him. Howling Gwen. I think it's super interesting.
[00:31:01] Grant:
But it might be amazing.
[00:31:05] Drew:
Captain. He's dying a super thing. TASM like I'm not saying TASM is like incredible, but it is a good one. Wow. So funny.
[00:31:11] Grant:
This thing on. No, okay. Wow, that was really bad. And we just lost about five subscribers. No, I'm just kidding.
[00:31:21] Drew:
And the retention graph just plummeted.
[00:31:22] Grant:
No more views. No, I'm just kidding. But on like a serious note, I think TASM 1 is carried in same with TASM 2 by Peter and Gwen. But that chemistry is so strong that it makes both of the movies like a lot more watchable.
[00:31:32] Drew:
Chapter. I agree. I agree. Hasn't one zillion is better.
[00:31:36] Grant:
And it makes TASM 1 really solid. I think TASM 1 also has like less offenses. There's less bad in TASM 1.
[00:31:47] Drew:
Well, it's not great, but he's better than Electron Green Goblin.
[00:31:47] Grant:
I think what TASM 2, the state that we're in right now is a little bit of where we're at with the prequel. Like there's some bad, like real bad in TASM 2. But some people love it.
[00:32:01] Drew:
Yeah. Yeah. I think this is enough for sports.
[00:32:02] Grant:
And kind of even for the bad. To the point where I think that it's a little bit of like nostalgia positivity around it where it shouldn't be. Even though I like the movie. So I don't know. That's where I'm at. I like it. Okay, next take.
[00:32:20] Drew:
Speaking of people who love TASM to Jerry can underscore one.
[00:32:20] Grant:
I might throw a chair.
[00:32:25] Drew:
TASM to and Spider-Man three are good. Maybe even great movies.
[00:32:34] Grant:
Uh, listen, TASM 2, I can hear an argument for. Here's the thing though.
[00:32:39] Drew:
I think that's fine. Yeah. It is hard to watch.
[00:32:42] Grant:
I think TASM 2 is like 50% good, 50% bad. Which, it's like a neutral experience for me. But the good of it is what I remember and is very good. Um, T- uh, sorry. Rami 3 is awful. I'm sorry. I will keep saying it. Like, I know that Peter goes through a decent arc and the characters conclude in a decent way. It is an awful movie. And I will say JerryCan_1 did not say great Spider-Man movies.
[00:33:07] Drew:
Oh, he is right. I think I disagree here. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:33:12] Grant:
Just say great movies. Period. So we're saying like compared to Interstellar, which I would say is a great movie. We're talking Rami 3 and TASM 2 are in a great, good, even great category here. Like I think we're too far, Jerry. Too far. This is, is this Raging Fire?
[00:33:31] Drew:
If we're talking good Spider-Man movies, I think they both are. I like TASM too. But if we're comparing it to the rest of cinema doesn't even hold a candle.
[00:33:41] Grant:
I'm okay with Raging Fire here. Alright. Man, some crazy takes there. I think I'm up.
[00:33:49] Drew:
All right. Yep. Yeah, for sure. This is awesome that we have.
[00:33:51] Grant:
Wow. We have a lot of takes. Thank you guys for sending in all these takes. If you have, if you have another take, you can send it in.
[00:33:57] Drew:
There will be more Spider-Man hot take video. Oh, that's
[00:33:59] Grant:
We might get to it. There's a lot. Yeah. Yeah. There, it might be around the corner again. So, um, I'm still trying to find the take that I looked at earlier and I really liked. Okay. This is from gabriel_804_war. My hot take is that Tom is the best Spider-Man. I grew up in the Andrew era and I remember seeing TASM 2 in theaters. But for me, around the age of 10, when Homecoming came out, I related to him immediately. I tried to go back and watch Toby and Andrew and they don't hit like Tom does. Side note. Love you guys. Please never stop the podcast. Well, thank you. Because of your comment, we will never stop it.
[00:34:37] Drew:
yeah, specifically because of you.
[00:34:39] Grant:
Thank you, gabriel_804_war. Um, I settled the Spider-Man debate definitively. This is it. No, but you came to us, viewer, for our opinions and our truth.
[00:34:50] Drew:
This is a subjective argument. I still get which I think you should do.
[00:34:58] Grant:
Really? It's towards the bottom. Um, I think Tom is the best Spider-Man. But I say this with the asterisk. Okay. Because I see Spider-Man as Peter and Spider-Man combined as a character. And two. And then two, performance and three overall quality of films slash Spider-Man films.
[00:35:15] Drew:
I think Toby. I'll try to I'll try to be as objective. I think Toby at least with one and two
[00:35:21] Grant:
Now, prior to brand new day, I would say that Tom doesn't hit all those categories. After brand new day, I think he does. I think he overall has good enough Spider-Man films. He has a very good performance. I think he's very good at Spider-Man. And then like the character writing of his Peter versus Spider-Man is still very good as well. But I want to hear arguments for the others. Okay. Yeah.
[00:35:57] Drew:
as phenomenal. And I would say has the best Spider-Man moment in the sense of like, I'm walking away from day him picking back up after down and lights and the importance of it over any of the three. I think Andrew as it's the most charismatic Spider-Man
[00:36:17] Grant:
Yeah. Okay. Sure. For sure.
[00:36:25] Drew:
like just on a performance level. I think he's the funniest,
[00:36:26] Grant:
Yeah. Best swinging scenes.
[00:36:29] Drew:
best swinging thing. I think his relationship with Gwen is like you want it to work out
[00:36:29] Grant:
Yeah.
[00:36:37] Drew:
for them. I can't say that maybe about Peter and MJ and Rainey. But like,
[00:36:38] Grant:
Ugh.
[00:36:44] Drew:
I can say that about Peter and MJ and homecoming trilogy and for any day.
[00:36:47] Grant:
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
[00:36:51] Drew:
But is that based on the fact that I love Tom Holland and Zendaya?
[00:36:51] Grant:
I would say brand new day executed very well to the point where like I cared about those characters.
[00:36:54] Drew:
Or is it because the movie has executed people well in that front? I don't know. Agreed. Yeah. Dying. That's true. Please, Dustin, don't let it happen.
[00:37:02] Grant:
And also I think they were well written in that movie. And built off what was good in the homecoming trilogy. So the one asterisk on this conversation is that Tom isn't done being Spider-Man. It's okay. You're good. Like Tom still has more Spider-Man in him. More movies. So like what if Tom goes on a run of three really bad movies? I'm not saying it'll happen. I don't think it will. But then Tom would not even really be in that conversation anymore.
[00:37:35] Drew:
I agree. Yeah. I mean, I got like longevity plays a factor.
[00:37:35] Grant:
I don't think.
[00:37:39] Drew:
Tom Holland has now been Spider-Man for double the time Andrew had. So and like, really, if you count the whole MCU, maybe triple the time Andrew and double Toby, like any game, Civil War, Infinity War, anything else? I think it's so subjective.
[00:37:58] Grant:
No, he doesn't appear in anything else. I think Tom is the best. That's what I'm going to say right now.
[00:38:05] Drew:
I don't know. I think they're all different. I'm going to say Toby
[00:38:09] Grant:
Yes, you do. It's just like your character. How do you not have a favorite one at least? They are actually very different. I'm okay with that.
[00:38:19] Drew:
purely on the argument of Spider-Man.
[00:38:23] Grant:
But I think that I think that Toby's performance is the worst and it's not even close.
[00:38:27] Drew:
I agree. I agree. I agree. I think the writing is the strongest.
[00:38:31] Grant:
Not dialogue, but character writing fine.
[00:38:32] Drew:
I think the writing's like the character arcs.
[00:38:35] Grant:
That's fine. Okay.
[00:38:39] Drew:
Did he say what his his favor was? Oh, yeah, Tom is. Okay.
[00:38:41] Grant:
You said Tom. I think it's not a hot take that Tom's the best Spider-Man though. I think that's my personal opinion.
[00:38:47] Drew:
I think it is a hot take. It could be a hot take whisper. But in general audience, I don't think it is. I was going to say that for sports.
[00:38:54] Grant:
Smoke. Okay.
[00:38:57] Drew:
I'm maybe that's fine. Okay.
[00:38:58] Grant:
We'll say some smoke. I think it's a good take though.
[00:39:02] Drew:
Thank you for your kind words, gabriel_804_war. Really appreciate you.
[00:39:04] Grant:
Yes.
[00:39:05] Drew:
All right. Oh wait, there was a name that I wanted to read just because I thought it was fun.
[00:39:09] Grant:
Okay. That's awesome.
[00:39:10] Drew:
I don't know if your take is good, but hunkahunka1488. I love that. That's honka honka.
[00:39:16] Grant:
It's awesome.
[00:39:18] Drew:
That's so funny to me. Spider-Man one is the greatest superhero movie of all time.
[00:39:24] Grant:
No. Just no.
[00:39:25] Drew:
We wouldn't have had the MCU if it weren't for it.
[00:39:26] Grant:
Okay.
[00:39:28] Drew:
And Spider-Man two is the worst of the trilogy.
[00:39:32] Grant:
This is raging fire straight up.
[00:39:34] Drew:
This is insane. Honka honka. What are we doing right now?
[00:39:35] Grant:
Spider-Man 1 is not the greatest superhero movie of all time.
[00:39:39] Drew:
I agree. Yep. Yep.
[00:39:39] Grant:
I think I could list three or four that are better than it, including the sequel to it.
[00:39:44] Drew:
Spider-Man two.
[00:39:44] Grant:
So, this is just silly.
[00:39:45] Drew:
What are we talking about right now? Spider-Man two is the worst of the trilogy. Spider-Man. Oh my gosh. That's insane.
[00:39:50] Grant:
This is silly. This has got to be Ragebait or the MCU.
[00:39:52] Drew:
The argument of and maybe you disagree viewers. The argument of if we didn't have Spider-Man one, we wouldn't have superhero movie.
[00:40:03] Grant:
I don't really think that's true either.
[00:40:04] Drew:
I don't think it's true a because X1 came out before
[00:40:07] Grant:
Yes.
[00:40:07] Drew:
and that was super revolutionary and like someone would have done it.
[00:40:08] Grant:
I still think Iron Man would have happened in 2008.
[00:40:12] Drew:
But B, I think like previous contacts cannot affect the movie.
[00:40:14] Grant:
I mean, I think Batman Begins.
[00:40:20] Drew:
We just got to take it for a movie and like saying, well, Rami carried the superhero franchise and the MCU was built on that. I think it might be partially true, but you can't say that when you're arguing the value of right.
[00:40:37] Grant:
Just stick with me for a second. I think Batman Begins is a decent movie that's got some flaws, but I like it a lot. We don't talk about Batman Begins of like, it's the reason we have The Dark Knight. And also, from a certain point of view, the reason why we really have the MCU. Because like, if Batman Begins didn't take off when it did, I don't think we would have the MCU like we had it. But like, I say that, I still think the MCU would have happened.
[00:41:03] Drew:
Yeah, I agree.
[00:41:04] Grant:
But like, we don't talk about Batman Begins in that way. So, I don't think we should talk about Spider-Man 1 that way. Personally.
[00:41:09] Drew:
But if we're just putting movie against movie,
[00:41:09] Grant:
No.
[00:41:12] Drew:
I remember when it's not the greatest superman.
[00:41:14] Grant:
It's not better than The Dark Knight. It's not better than The Batman. It's not better than Spider-Man 2. Nope.
[00:41:21] Drew:
I'm going to the spider-verse or across the spider-verse.
[00:41:23] Grant:
I probably didn't know on both of those. I mean, what are we going to do, man?
[00:41:27] Drew:
Um, sure.
[00:41:32] Grant:
It is better than Fantastic Four The First Steps, which is a stupid title.
[00:41:36] Drew:
Um, it's better than she was the worst of the trilogy.
[00:41:36] Grant:
God, not even close.
[00:41:38] Drew:
Not even close. It's the best of the trilogy.
[00:41:40] Grant:
God, that's crazy.
[00:41:42] Drew:
I think it has a phenomenal arc for Peter. And I think Spider-Man three is not great. So you really think Spider-Man three is better than two. That's wild.
[00:41:50] Grant:
All right. We got to move on. That's a raging fire take, though.
[00:41:54] Drew:
Honka honka. Love the name. Don't love.
[00:41:55] Grant:
Love the name.
[00:41:56] Drew:
Don't love the take.
[00:41:56] Grant:
Don't love the take. No, I'm just kidding.
[00:41:57] Drew:
Oh, this is a good take.
[00:41:58] Grant:
Luke Crenshaw. My brother. I'm excited to talk about this one because he actually said it was a very good take.
[00:42:01] Drew:
I I love.
[00:42:04] Grant:
He said Spider-Man Hot Take, PS4. Which I guess is also PS5, but PS4 Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man story. I'm going to assume this only means Spider-Man 1. Not Spider-Man 2 or Miles Morales in there. Just the PS4 game. That's not crazy. Like, just the only story.
[00:42:28] Drew:
I think I played this game probably four times. I didn't.
[00:42:31] Grant:
Wow, that's a lot.
[00:42:33] Drew:
Spoilers for PS4. If you haven't played it, this is this is the spoiler. Um, when he has the frickin serum, the antidote and can save Aunt May and doesn't
[00:42:44] Grant:
Mm-hmm. Thank you.
[00:42:48] Drew:
and she dies. Are you kidding me? That moment's phenomenal.
[00:42:52] Grant:
Yeah.
[00:42:54] Drew:
Oh my gosh.
[00:42:57] Grant:
I think this is kind of the best version of Peter, especially the PS4. Peter, I think. I like the PS5 version, all right. But, like, I think it's kind of the best version of Peter. It's hard also to, I think, remove the positive feelings I have for swinging around in this game and the gameplay from this game.
[00:43:12] Drew:
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:43:15] Grant:
It's like, if you think about it, the story is like a little episodic or whatever, but I still think the story is really good.
[00:43:20] Drew:
I think it's always great. I really do.
[00:43:22] Grant:
If this was a movie, would you think it's better than Spider-Man 2?
[00:43:23] Drew:
100 percent. I think so. I honestly do.
[00:43:29] Grant:
Really? Yeah, I think the main moment is very good.
[00:43:33] Drew:
I think this is my favorite interpretation of Spider-Man that we've seen on a screen besides end of the Spider-Verse.
[00:43:40] Grant:
I think this version of Peter and MJ is the best.
[00:43:42] Drew:
So good.
[00:43:42] Grant:
On a side note, I like that brand new day.
[00:43:43] Drew:
So real.
[00:43:47] Grant:
It took some of the Insomniac gameplay into the swinging scenes in that movie was really good.
[00:43:48] Drew:
So good. Yeah. Um, I think I agree.
[00:43:53] Grant:
All right, I'll agree with it.
[00:43:54] Drew:
Full stop with this take up.
[00:43:57] Grant:
For someone who's not really a Spider-Man fan, but really liked the PS4 Spider-Man,
[00:44:01] Drew:
Now I want to go back and play it again.
[00:44:03] Grant:
you probably will before the years out. How hot does this take?
[00:44:05] Drew:
I think I do maybe, but I think anyone has played the game kind of agree.
[00:44:07] Grant:
It's coming on the hotter side, right?
[00:44:15] Drew:
Uh, I'll say enough.
[00:44:16] Grant:
All right, enough first and most.
[00:44:17] Drew:
Okay.
[00:44:18] Grant:
I'm fine with that.
[00:44:18] Drew:
All righty.
[00:44:20] Grant:
Okay. All right, you're up. DDMStudiosYT, shout out.
[00:44:23] Drew:
We are going to go with DDMStudiosYT. A long time subscriber. We appreciate you.
[00:44:32] Grant:
We do.
[00:44:33] Drew:
All right. He has to one of them super short though. So we'll we'll get to it later into the Spider-Verse is better than across the
[00:44:37] Grant:
Okay.
[00:44:39] Drew:
Spider-Verse. Okay. I'm thinking it's because of into simplicity and basic world building trying to explain the multiverse in across the Spider-Verse doesn't do a lot of good things in any
[00:44:45] Grant:
Okay.
[00:44:50] Drew:
media, especially considering the fact that these films are very much connected to the MCU and all their terrible individual multiverse rules. I believe this is where it shines because it is. It's it's own multiverse across Spider-Verse. Great. But into the into the Spider-Verse is far superior.
[00:45:11] Grant:
I think I can get behind the multiverse thing.
[00:45:15] Drew:
It's not really connected to the MCU though.
[00:45:17] Grant:
I mean, there are scenes through direct references.
[00:45:18] Drew:
I mean, kind. Yeah, they're a direct reference.
[00:45:22] Grant:
Yeah?
[00:45:24] Drew:
Um, I think I agree. I think they're both. Let me say this. I think they're both five star movies. I like into better.
[00:45:31] Grant:
I think Across, it juries out, honestly, on the sake.
[00:45:33] Drew:
But that's just kind of like my personal thing. And it's not really like I don't have a reason. It's just like I've watched it more. I like the arc better. And I still kind of where I am.
[00:45:48] Grant:
Because it hasn't sucked the landing yet.
[00:45:51] Drew:
Yeah, it's yeah.
[00:45:52] Grant:
As a middle movie, it could be one of the best sequels of all time. It could be one of the best bridge movies for a trilogy ever made since at least the two towers. Like, it could be considered one of the best movies ever made, right? If the third movie sticks the landing.
[00:46:07] Drew:
If we stick the way I don't think I've been more nervous for a single movie in my
[00:46:08] Grant:
If it doesn't, Into the Spider-Verse is better hands down. That's probably fair.
[00:46:14] Drew:
entire life than beyond the Spider-Verse.
[00:46:17] Grant:
I think these movies, yeah.
[00:46:18] Drew:
Uh, I'm trying to read more. I don't explain the multiverse in across the Spider-Verse doesn't do a lot of good things. Any media. Yeah, I mean, I think multiverse are just messy in general. But I think across the Spider-Verse does the best I've seen.
[00:46:31] Grant:
Yeah, out of any other multiverse adaptation, these movies have done the best by far. I don't think Across ruins what we had in Into the Spider-Verse.
[00:46:40] Drew:
No, I don't. I don't think it does either.
[00:46:41] Grant:
I think it builds on it well. I think it's still easy to follow. Is it messy or sure? But also, that movie still keeps the focus on Miles and Gwen.
[00:46:51] Drew:
Yeah. Yeah.
[00:46:51] Grant:
And like, stuff that really matters there. Well, we will soon.
[00:46:55] Drew:
Now I want to go watch these movies.
[00:46:57] Grant:
Stay tuned for that. Um, yeah, well, do we want to do a hotness scale for that one first?
[00:46:59] Drew:
Oh, so we can't come fast enough. All right. Should we get into number two take? How hot do you think?
[00:47:07] Grant:
It's not, it can't be that hot. Only embers?
[00:47:11] Drew:
No.
[00:47:12] Grant:
We'll go only embers.
[00:47:13] Drew:
Oh, I was going to say some s'mores. Okay.
[00:47:16] Grant:
But I like the take. I think it's well thought out. I don't know what this is.
[00:47:19] Drew:
Okay. You're not going to have any context for this. Spectacular Spider-Man.
[00:47:23] Grant:
I've not seen Spectacular Spider-Man.
[00:47:24] Drew:
This is a DDMStudiosYT second take. Spectacular Spider-Man is objectively the best Spider-Man on screen. Second place Peter B Parker.
[00:47:33] Grant:
Okay, I know.
[00:47:34] Drew:
I have. I think it's phenomenal. It is great. Is it the best? I hate all these objective words.
[00:47:46] Grant:
Best.
[00:47:47] Drew:
Best.
[00:47:47] Grant:
No, yeah, I know what it is.
[00:47:48] Drew:
Um, Spectacular Spider-Man is great. The Venom arc is so good. Um, Harry dealing with addiction is great. This is like, okay.
[00:47:58] Grant:
I've never seen it. I'm nodding my head like I understand all that you're talking about right now.
[00:48:00] Drew:
Um, this is one of those shows where it's like,
[00:48:01] Grant:
Okay.
[00:48:04] Drew:
I feel like similar to like structure for kids, but has the depth of it's great.
[00:48:09] Grant:
You're speaking my language now. Stupid.
[00:48:11] Drew:
But it's only two seasons because I canceled Disney by some Disney thing.
[00:48:14] Grant:
How is Disney not finishing it?
[00:48:19] Drew:
This is a great question. Disney.
[00:48:23] Grant:
You finished Clone Wars? You've continued X-Men. But you haven't finished this?
[00:48:28] Drew:
Yeah. Well, they they we now have friendly neighborhood Spider-Man complete other animals, but they didn't finish the one that fans
[00:48:34] Grant:
That's a little silly. All right, well, Disney, you dropping the ball as usual.
[00:48:36] Drew:
have been clamoring for 15 years.
[00:48:42] Grant:
Gotta walk in, bro.
[00:48:43] Drew:
Um, I don't see the best.
[00:48:44] Grant:
Okay.
[00:48:46] Drew:
Honestly, he might be. I'm not going to make a blanket statement because I need to rewatch like the Spider-Man a, but he is very good. He might be the best second place is Peter B Parker.
[00:48:56] Grant:
I, I, I agree with that.
[00:48:58] Drew:
I think Peter B Parker is phenomenal. I think my one critique of across the Spider-Verse is he is character was kind of sidelined, which I didn't like. But yeah, I think Peter B Parker is great.
[00:49:07] Grant:
Okay.
[00:49:09] Drew:
I love that he's like depressed and into the Spider-Verse. His arc with Miles is great. I'm not going to make a take. I agree. They're both awesome. This is not that hot. I'm going to say enough only amber.
[00:49:22] Grant:
They're double only embers, but I like the take. Ryan's me that I need to go watch Spectacular.
[00:49:28] Drew:
Yeah, both good takes good.
[00:49:32] Grant:
Um, thank you, DDMStudiosYT. I have a take for you. Are you ready?
[00:49:37] Drew:
So red.
[00:49:38] Grant:
This is from Temple277. They sent in a lot of takes. I'm going to read the first one. Actually, okay, okay, there's a lot going on here.
[00:49:45] Drew:
It's a little guy.
[00:49:49] Grant:
But this is from Temple277. Wanted a hot take. Here's a very hot one. Haha. Green Goblin, isn't that interesting of a villain? Not only that, but I was never much into the Spidey's Rogues Gallery in the first place. The only Rogues I find interesting for Spider-Man are Kingpin, although mainly his involvement with Dear Devil, Doc Ock, Lizard, and Venom, to be honest. These seem to have the most development and complexity because I don't know some of the other ones like Craven, Carnage, Rhino, and Shocker just don't grab my interest at all. Um, we're going to just leave it there because there's a lot of other stuff they wrote.
[00:50:22] Drew:
Um, I will say this.
[00:50:25] Grant:
Oh yeah, totally.
[00:50:26] Drew:
All the villains definitely have a gimmick. So if that bothers you and if you want, I would say most of them are pretty deep complex. I don't know, but I would say they have death. But like Green Goblin takes a serum to make him go. You're like, OK, um, some of them, I mean, you know, like craving cravings last time you're in a comic. You should read it because there's a lot of depth there. Great. Um, yeah, I mean, Carnage is just like a serial killer.
[00:50:59] Grant:
Man, the story was just so squandered too. Like, I think the movies have kind of ruined
[00:51:02] Drew:
Yeah, I mean, yeah, unbelievable.
[00:51:05] Grant:
ruined what could have been some really good villains. Like the fact, again, spoilers for Brand New Day. The fact that the villain of Brand New Day is Jean Grey and it's very good is like, I love the movie and I love the movie for it. But also, if you zoom out on all of Spider-Man, it's kind of a tragedy that that's the good villain that we, like we have to have Jean Grey be the villain of this movie
[00:51:24] Drew:
One of the better ones.
[00:51:26] Grant:
because we haven't been hitting on villains recently. Yes.
[00:51:30] Drew:
Yeah, I mean, the Sony version. Yeah, I mean, I don't hate this. I think the villains are interesting foils to Spider-Man and they poke at different moral places where you're like, I mean, again, if you want interesting dynamics, read the Carnage storyline where Venom and Peter are arguing, do we kill Carnage? That's interesting. And I'm like, I think we should.
[00:51:57] Grant:
Hotness scale.
[00:51:59] Drew:
He's he's literally mass murdering New York. Spider-Man's like, no, like that's kind of the interesting thing. We're like, all these villains have a gimmick. Venom's is like, well, because then he pokes at Peter like, why shouldn't we kill people? That's where the depth comes in. But as a whole, I think most of the villains are pretty one. So I don't know. I don't think I'm going to say enough for smores.
[00:52:25] Grant:
Okay, I think it's fine. Probably among Spider-Man fans, it's a hotter take than not. Alright, you're up.
[00:52:37] Drew:
Okay. Oh, wait. Well, this take is continued.
[00:52:42] Grant:
Oh, oh yeah, I guess we can continue it.
[00:52:43] Drew:
Okay. He says the only reason I didn't include Black Cat in there
[00:52:44] Grant:
That's, I mean, all those added thoughts
[00:52:46] Drew:
is because well, she has a catwoman situation of being an anti hero. You could argue for Venom being in a very similar situation. I feel like Venom more iconic villainous trails of Black Cat. I agree. Maybe it's because I love very complex villains and Spider-Man just doesn't have to reach the level of Sinestro, Magneto, or Doom, which is my favorite type of attack. Yeah, I mean, I still agree here. I don't think this is crazy. Yep. Yep.
[00:53:20] Grant:
don't change my opinion. I think it's well thought out though.
[00:53:22] Drew:
I agree.
[00:53:22] Grant:
Alright, now you're up.
[00:53:24] Drew:
Okay. Okay. Oh, derekthedullard. Oh, derekthedullard, I probably said your name wrong again.
[00:53:34] Grant:
No, Derek.
[00:53:36] Drew:
And that's a hot take.
[00:53:39] Grant:
That's kind of fair.
[00:53:40] Drew:
And the first amazing spider-man flash did nothing wrong when he knocked over the girl painting projects on the basketball court. It's absolutely her fault for deciding to do an art project on the end of a sports court. That's hilarious.
[00:53:52] Grant:
That's not even that crazy.
[00:53:53] Drew:
I kind of agree. Second, I take Peter was a bit of a bleep in what followed to he should have just outclassed him in a game of actual basketball rather than doing that insane leaping claim done. Totally destroyed the basket and process. No, I mean, I think Peter at that point in his Spider-Man arc is in the
[00:54:12] Grant:
I also think for Andrew Garfield Spider-Man, that makes sense.
[00:54:17] Drew:
he hasn't realized that there is responsibility when it comes to power. So he's just showing, which I think is fine from a character perspective. Is he a bit of a douche in this situation?
[00:54:27] Grant:
For sure.
[00:54:29] Drew:
Yes. But like, I think that's kind of the point.
[00:54:31] Grant:
But then Flash comes up and instead of like being like,
[00:54:32] Drew:
Should the chick have been doing the art project? No, that's a great point, actually.
[00:54:38] Grant:
hey, I'm sorry, he's like, you should like,
[00:54:39] Drew:
Yeah, I mean, flash isn't the nicest.
[00:54:40] Grant:
what are you doing over here or whatever? He's just like, okay, then you get into the bully land. But Flash is, but he's also probably the nicest Flash of all the Flashes in Spider-Man.
[00:54:52] Drew:
He actually has an arc, which is cool.
[00:54:52] Grant:
He does. Is it a little corny maybe? Yeah, that's interesting.
[00:54:57] Drew:
I like that the uncle scene where he's like, or Andrew's like, I don't have time for this. And he's like, Hey, man, I'm sorry about your uncle. I'm like, that's great. When he's wearing the Spider-Man shirt, that's the one he has.
[00:55:09] Grant:
I think these are obviously an adjusting manner.
[00:55:10] Drew:
I agree here. This is.
[00:55:12] Grant:
I think I agree.
[00:55:13] Drew:
Yeah, I, uh, some smoke.
[00:55:15] Grant:
How hot are these things?
[00:55:21] Drew:
Okay.
[00:55:21] Grant:
Some smoke, sounds great. Okay. Let's find another interesting one. Trying to find one, but then I read one and I didn't even remember what it applied to. Okay, this is from croonsy. I think this is interesting. My hot take says croonsy. Keeping in mind that I have not seen Brand New Day is that the Mysterio Illusion scene in Far From Home is the coolest scene of any live-action Spidey film. Coolest. That's not even crazy.
[00:55:55] Drew:
It is.
[00:55:55] Grant:
Oh, my gosh.
[00:55:56] Drew:
I mean, bro, the moment where he grabs the gun is so sick.
[00:56:01] Grant:
It is tough. Cooler scenes.
[00:56:03] Drew:
Uh, we can't.
[00:56:04] Grant:
What are cooler scenes? Let's wait.
[00:56:07] Drew:
Well, I said we talk about brand new data a second, but for the sake of this argument,
[00:56:10] Grant:
Let's talk pre-Brand New Day.
[00:56:11] Drew:
let's not. Yeah.
[00:56:12] Grant:
What are cooler scenes in that one in Spidey film?
[00:56:12] Drew:
Agreed.
[00:56:15] Grant:
I would say nothing from the Homecoming trilogy really holds a candle.
[00:56:20] Drew:
Yep.
[00:56:20] Grant:
I mean, it's cool seeing the three Spideys swing around, but I don't think any of the scenes are cooler than this scene.
[00:56:25] Drew:
I, the action scenes, it has him to a pre-dote.
[00:56:26] Grant:
It is also cool in the first-has-a-movie
[00:56:29] Drew:
Fighting Electro and cinematography in the score is all like in full form.
[00:56:38] Grant:
when he stops the guy who's robbing the car or like the car jack or whatever.
[00:56:42] Drew:
Yeah.
[00:56:42] Grant:
He's like webbing him and stuff. I think that scene is pretty tough. I don't know.
[00:56:47] Drew:
I don't hate this from you though.
[00:56:48] Grant:
I also don't. I think... I would say, yeah, I agree.
[00:56:53] Drew:
Yeah.
[00:56:53] Grant:
For Brand New Day. After Brand New Day.
[00:56:55] Drew:
I think they're cool.
[00:56:55] Grant:
What are they?
[00:56:58] Drew:
Him fighting the hand.
[00:56:58] Grant:
I think it's pretty cool.
[00:57:00] Drew:
It's sick. I think I mean, that's the one that stands out the most. Um, I think him fighting Scorpion.
[00:57:08] Grant:
I think you can't find in the Hulk. We're being in Hulk are pretty good.
[00:57:11] Drew:
Yeah.
[00:57:12] Grant:
I wouldn't say they're cooler than the Mysterio fight, though.
[00:57:14] Drew:
I will say this is completely off topic.
[00:57:14] Grant:
Gosh.
[00:57:16] Drew:
Him pulling Punisher as Punisher like shoots Hulk. It's like so fun. That's the end shot.
[00:57:24] Grant:
I've been watching all the behind-the-scenes that Destin Daniel Cretton's been sending
[00:57:27] Drew:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:57:28] Grant:
or like posting on Instagram. This movie was made with love. Come on the pod, man.
[00:57:31] Drew:
Shout out to Destin for doing that, though, because he seems like such a chill guy.
[00:57:34] Grant:
I know.
[00:57:35] Drew:
That's the name of credit. And this is our formal invitation.
[00:57:37] Grant:
He started as an indie filmmaker, too. Like, that's sick.
[00:57:40] Drew:
This is our formal invitation for you to come on.
[00:57:40] Grant:
Yeah. We have a rate...
[00:57:43] Drew:
You were invited before this, but now you're really invited.
[00:57:45] Grant:
Oh, wait, your response. You have 48 hours to respond.
[00:57:49] Drew:
No, we don't we don't even give him a time whenever you want.
[00:57:50] Grant:
48 years.
[00:57:52] Drew:
When whatever's convenient for you, Destin.
[00:57:53] Grant:
Whenever you want to come on, just hit us up. Storemylinepod at gmail.com.
[00:57:58] Drew:
Yep.
[00:57:58] Grant:
No. I think... Yeah, I'm gonna agree with this take, though.
[00:58:03] Drew:
I agree.
[00:58:03] Grant:
Hot on a scale. I wouldn't say this is too hot of a take. People like...
[00:58:07] Drew:
No, I think all the stuff I've seen for fall from home is like it sucks, but the license is sick.
[00:58:13] Grant:
Yes.
[00:58:14] Drew:
And I agree.
[00:58:14] Grant:
They will say only embers. But I like the take. I do like the take.
[00:58:19] Drew:
All right.
[00:58:19] Grant:
Yeah, let's do one more.
[00:58:20] Drew:
Should we do one more? Yeah.
[00:58:22] Grant:
Don't worry.
[00:58:23] Drew:
One more. And then again, if we didn't get your take, we are doing more of these spoilers.
[00:58:27] Grant:
Don't fret. Two, three days?
[00:58:28] Drew:
There might be another one coming out like the next maybe like who knows.
[00:58:33] Grant:
Who knows? That's just the hot take.
[00:58:35] Drew:
Okay. This is not going to be the one we do, but TKTC64 says I like Spider-Man. And I think that's kind of funny.
[00:58:47] Grant:
No, wait, let's talk about that really quick.
[00:58:48] Drew:
We've talked about it. Okay.
[00:58:50] Grant:
That's funny. Okay, his hot take is that he likes Spider-Man.
[00:58:52] Drew:
He likes it. I mean, so he's recognizing that it's hot, which I appreciate the
[00:58:54] Grant:
Is it a hot take that you like Spider-Man?
[00:58:56] Drew:
self-reflection here.
[00:59:00] Grant:
I don't know if it's a hot take that you like Spider-Man 3. I think it's a hot take maybe two likes Spider-Man 3. But not that you like it.
[00:59:05] Drew:
Yeah, I think it's fine that you like it.
[00:59:07] Grant:
Interesting distinction in there. I think it's interesting that you like this movie.
[00:59:14] Drew:
I think it's great.
[00:59:14] Grant:
I don't like Spider-Man 3.
[00:59:15] Drew:
I love that you like Spider-Man three.
[00:59:17] Grant:
I will say we are enough for embers.
[00:59:18] Drew:
It's not a great movie. Yeah, I think.
[00:59:22] Grant:
Somewhere in the mix there.
[00:59:25] Drew:
All right.
[00:59:25] Grant:
Okay.
[00:59:26] Drew:
The one I think we should end on though is kieroncampion120 every
[00:59:28] Grant:
Okay. Okay. Oh, that is...
[00:59:33] Drew:
Spider-Man movie over every Batman movie.
[00:59:37] Grant:
Okay. I'm gonna let you start.
[00:59:40] Drew:
Okay. Here's a huge there's so many questions sprung to my a we're talking composite
[00:59:40] Grant:
Oh, we are?
[00:59:47] Drew:
like the average of every Spider-Man. I don't know.
[00:59:49] Grant:
Okay, we'll have both conversations.
[00:59:49] Drew:
This is my question or are we talking because if we talk composite then we have
[00:59:52] Grant:
This is a crazy take.
[00:59:54] Drew:
like Adam West and we have like George Clooney, which is a low for Batman.
[00:59:54] Grant:
That is a low. But also, Raimi 3 and TASM 2 are lower on the Spider-Man scale.
[01:00:03] Drew:
Oh, true.
[01:00:03] Grant:
No, yeah, I completely agree.
[01:00:04] Drew:
But I don't think there is a low as like George Clooney. Now if we're talking.
[01:00:06] Grant:
Val Kilmer? That's crazy.
[01:00:09] Drew:
Yeah. Michael Keaton. There's been so many more Batman's now.
[01:00:11] Grant:
Or...
[01:00:16] Drew:
I would say the highs of Batman. I don't know. Actually, I'm going to retract that statement.
[01:00:22] Grant:
Okay. If we're compositing both of them,
[01:00:23] Drew:
I kind of think they do to agree.
[01:00:26] Grant:
I actually think they average out about in the same area. Because here's the thing. I think the lows of Batman and the highs of Batman are further apart. Like, the lows of Batman are worse than the lows of Spider-Man. But the highs of Batman being the Dark Knight and the Batman are higher. I think those two movies are better than every Spider-Man movie, straight up. I don't care. I don't care. I think those are both better than Spider-Man 2. I think they are. Now, marginally, maybe.
[01:00:50] Drew:
I think they don't.
[01:00:53] Grant:
But I still think the Dark Knight is like a step up from Friday 2.
[01:00:58] Drew:
I agree.
[01:00:58] Grant:
So, I think we average it out, though.
[01:01:00] Drew:
Even though I might like Spidey too better. I don't even know. But I think the dark nights when they I think they do equal about the place.
[01:01:05] Grant:
Like... And like, here's the thing.
[01:01:09] Drew:
If we're talking all Batman now if we're talking. If like when Spider-Man one came out so 2002 on Batman wins.
[01:01:21] Grant:
Are we, like, including Batman and the Superman?
[01:01:24] Drew:
Oh, true.
[01:01:24] Grant:
Are we including the Flash?
[01:01:25] Drew:
Does but an athlete I'm going to say modern Batman movies are better than
[01:01:26] Grant:
Like, what are we including in this? Are we including all the MCU movies? I don't really know. Where's it end? Yes, I would agree.
[01:01:39] Drew:
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's insane.
[01:01:40] Grant:
I am going to shift to the other way this sentence can be taken. Every Spider-Man movie is better than every Batman movie. That is crazy. Every single... Like, if somebody says every single Spider-Man movie is better than any Batman movie, that is wild. This is...
[01:01:55] Drew:
But I mean, but I mean three is not better than it's not better than a single Batman movie
[01:01:56] Grant:
It's ridiculous. At that point, you have to have Vendetta... Vendetta against Batman himself.
[01:02:03] Drew:
post I mean three.
[01:02:05] Grant:
And you might just be like a DC-U hater.
[01:02:06] Drew:
Yeah, you still like Batman, which is fine.
[01:02:09] Grant:
Or DC-Hater. Which I think is fine. But like, to say that the Dark Knight is worse than Raimi 3 is crazy.
[01:02:16] Drew:
That's crazy. That's insane.
[01:02:17] Grant:
That's just absurd.
[01:02:18] Drew:
Um, yeah. Interesting though. Interesting conversation.
[01:02:24] Grant:
An interesting thought process that we quickly resolved.
[01:02:28] Drew:
I think either way.
[01:02:29] Grant:
How do we want to rate this? Because there's kind of two ways we can take this. I just want to round up to Raging Fire.
[01:02:35] Drew:
One's less hot than the other. I'm going to say enough or more. Ah, screw it. Let's do it.
[01:02:41] Grant:
Raging Fire. Dolly, that was a crazy take.
[01:02:44] Drew:
Okay. That is pretty wild.
[01:02:48] Grant:
If you have a Spider-Man hot take, please send it in.
[01:02:50] Drew:
Yes.
[01:02:51] Grant:
Also, if you have like some cough medicine or something,
[01:02:53] Drew:
Yeah.
[01:02:53] Grant:
feel free to mail it to us.
[01:02:54] Drew:
Guys, I I've been suffering.
[01:02:55] Grant:
No, I'm just kidding. Everybody gets sick at some point.
[01:02:58] Drew:
Yeah, we do.
[01:02:59] Grant:
I'll probably do my best in post to cut out some of these coughs. But hey, we love you guys. Send in more Spider-Man hot takes if you have them.
[01:03:05] Drew:
Yep.

[01:03:22] Drew:
Probably post another one relatively soon.
[01:03:23] Grant:
Yeah, for real.
[01:03:24] Drew:
Talk about Ryan Gosling and new Black Panther. Maybe when we have more Doomsday news to talk about.
[01:03:28] Grant:
We got some stuff cooking up in there. But what else do we have in the pipeline, Drew? Really quick.
[01:03:35] Drew:
House of the Dragon finale comes out soon.
[01:03:36] Grant:
Yes.
[01:03:38] Drew:
We're currently talking about Ted Lasso as well. But if you're into some positive Richmond AFC vibes, we got that for you. Is it AFC? Did I make that up? FC, Richmond FC?
[01:03:48] Grant:
It might just be Richmond FC.
[01:03:50] Drew:
I don't know. Um, Lanterns is around the corner. Um, we got a bunch of artsy movies with Social Reckoning. We have Fjord. We have doing Doomsday. Obviously anything and everything pop culture movies, TV.

Do we have a whole Star Wars marathon? Yeah, four videos of Star Wars hot takes.
[01:04:16] Drew:
And we talked about every Star Wars movie.
[01:04:18] Grant:
And some of them get pretty niche. Like towards the end of it, we're getting some really niche Star Wars hot takes.
[01:04:23] Drew:
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:04:25] Grant:
So we want to hear all of your thoughts on those.
[01:04:27] Drew:
Yep.
[01:04:27] Grant:
If you have a Star Wars hot take, feel free to send it in, I guess.
[01:04:30] Drew:
We are.
[01:04:30] Grant:
But yes, right now we're in Spider-Man land.
[01:04:31] Drew:
We're going to do more of those eventually too. But yep.
[01:04:34] Grant:
So we're going to hang around here for a little bit.

I wonder what it could be.
[01:04:44] Drew:
I don't know.
[01:04:45] Grant:
That's just a teaser for you.
[01:04:48] Drew:
Yep.
[01:04:48] Grant:
